Software Update Notification

Can't seem to rid myself of the software update notification. I'm rooted/s-off and have all the boxes unchecked under software updates but still getting the notifications. Cleared cache and dalvic and that removed it but it came right back as soon as phone rebooted. Not quite sure why it's still checking for updates. Should be disabled. Any ideas?

Go to Settings.
Tap Application manager.
Swipe to the All screen.
Scroll down to find Download manager, then tap it.
Tap Clear cache button.
Tap Clear data button followed by tapping OK button.
Tap Force stop button followed by tapping OK button.
Restart the phone into your custom recovery
clear /cache
restart

I may have a clue - I flashed Captain Throwback's update (for s-off)

http://themikmik.com/showthread.php...ion-LATEST-1-54-651-8-OTA&p=299475&viewfull=1

and the radio and pri are correct but . . . the software version still shows as 1.12.651.17. Obviously the phone thinks I need to take the update. So now the question is how do I turn software updates OFF because, as I said, all the boxes under software updates are unchecked.

Per the site you were at:

I updated my firmware from your zip, but my software version didn't change. Did I do something wrong?

The zips from this thread will update your firmware, not your software. If you want your software version to change, flash a ROM based on the software you want, or you really just want to see a different number there, update it in build.prop. Some additional information can be found here.

In this case I would recommend completing a factory restore, wipe both caches, restart the phone, place the phone in airplane mode and complete the steps outlined in the 3rd post in this thread. After doing that, restart and enable wireless services again and see if the problem persists. If it does you may want to make a post on the site where you got the S-off.

Maybe someone else will chime in with another idea!
