Help Google Maps

I have a non rooted Moto X running Kitkat 4.4.2 and am having issues with the volume for the voice output in the latest version of Google Maps. I can't seem to find a way to adjust the volume of the voice independently from the volume of Pandora.

Is there a way to decrease the volume of the voice in Google Maps independently of the volume of the output of Pandora?

I had to take a picture to show sorry .

OK

Is there a way to decrease the volume of the voice in Google Maps independently of the volume of the output of Pandora?

They both are using 'media' output, AFAIK there is no way to split different 'media' files out and control the volume independently.

There are apps that can split volume controls a bit more than KitKat currently does but I've not had much luck with them frankly.

Media volume is media volume...you may just be stuck. Of course I could be missing the obvious and someone will point that out shortly :p

This would be the app in the play store .
Not to confuse you if u want you can even change the sound of how it speaks back to you with some apps and change of settings . can have clear English ,clear British or UK . male or female

I don't want the app to speak back to me at all but it seems like the suggestion was made to use this app to control the volume output of Google Maps against the volume output of Pandora or any other media application I may have. My main issue is that the sound level between Pandora and Google maps is unbalanced, lets say a 70/30 split with Google Maps voice producing 70% of the volume relative to what the output is for Pandora.

I am looking for a way to turn down Google Maps speech output but keep the level of any other media I may be streaming up.

No your not confusing me, your just not clarifying what your saying which makes me have to make assumptions on what I think trying to say which is incredibly hard as I don't know how your mind works. I know your just trying to help, which I do appreciate greatly so sorry for the rant.

They both out the same speaker .

That is an interesting point I haven't thought of. What controls the sound output? How does the phone categorize different outputs?

So for example if the Google Maps voice is lumped together with the general media sound setting as well as pandora, than there would be no way of control one output over the other unless the app itself had a way of individually controlling it's own output, which I don't even know if that would be possible. But if that is the case than why do I have such an imbalance of levels from Pandora and Google Maps. For example Google maps voice is 70% louder than what pandora is. When I try to adjust the output level in Pandora, it just adjusts the phones overall media output. Unless I am missing something. I haven't found any settings in Google Maps that would allow me to adjust the navigation's voice level.

I gotcha, I will try that but I have my doubts. I should have mentioned I have my phone connected to to my cars stereo via the headphone jack using a cassette tape adapter. I'm going to call Google here in a minute to see if they can help, this is a Google phone or it was a Google phone.

Thanks for your quick reply's and trying to help.

Without root, I don't think you have a choice in the matter. Pandora and Maps are both being funneled through the same "pipe" if you will, so they're collectively turned up or down together. LONG ago they were separate, but Google lumped Maps in with all other media, so I think we're stuck with what we have.

That's the ticket, thanks.

So does anyone know of a work around for this or another Maps application that allows you to control the voice output independently from other media output?

I have a new Moto-x that I am in the process of setting up for my vehicle. I did a search on separate app volumes and found, "App Volume for Android allows to set Volume level for Individual App" at getandroidstuffdotcom, I haven't tried it, and there is a $1 .25 charge. Can't post a link, newbe, but you might want to have a look.
