Root [TMobile] [GUIDE] How to unbrick/unroot (Complete Stock) Updated 11/20

Thank you for the tip! I will give it a go after dinner tonight.

I also should throw out there that I have the MetroPCS firmware/phone, however I want to flash the T-mobile stock ROM because I am going to sign up for T-mobile service. (I already unlocked the phone.) This is not a requirement for me, but I do want it done. Is there any way I can make sure the LG Mobile Support Tool installs the T-mobile ROM rather than the MetroPCS ROM?

Ok I spent a bit of time testing and discovering new methods today on Unrooting and using Upgrade Recovery, to recover a soft bricked phone and leave everything you had intact short of Root.. I made a lot of successful progress. I updated the thread I started about it. This should help achieve whatever it is you are after in regards to these subjects.

http://androidforums.com/lg-optimus...-unroot-your-f6-check-might-work-you-too.html

When I go to the LG website and use the menus to find my phone. I go to the Mobile/Cell Phones/LG Optimus/MS500. I don't click on a specific metro or T-Mobile menu that they provide, because it won't take you to any other menu offering any other options. It just sits there. I honestly don't think the firmware is much different between the Metro PCS and T-Mobile version because T-Mobile owns Metro PCS now. This being said this is as far as my knowledge goes for this. I suggest contacting someone at a T-Mobile store and asking them if you need to flash their rom since you unlocked it, they might even be able to do that for you in the store.

As far as unrooting and methods on recovering your phone just refer to my thread, unfortunately this is about as far as I can take you on this journey. For this I do apologize.

No need for apologies. Thank you for going out of your way to help :)

Success! I finally found a way to flash the T-Mobile stock ROM to my MetroPCS phone that works for me. For some reason the method in the OP do NOT work for me. I must have tried about 30 times, fallowed by a dozen altered methods. Well, I found KDZ Update tool and it worked like a breeze. It was far simpler and very easy. Worked like a charm.

Now I didn't do this to un-root. As a matter of fact I rooted the device moments after updating the ROM. I also didn't do this to un-brick. I simply did this so I could have a T-mobile ROM. But now that I finally got it flashed I can breathe a breath of fresh air!

Thank you, hubsabubs for helping out, nonetheless. :)

Question: If I uninstalled some bloatware and integrated new apps to system, etc, will flashing these stock ROMs revert everything back to normal/stock in system as well? You know... in case KitKat is released and whatnot.

Yeah actually it very well should. I take it your asking in the sense that when the update comes out you want to flash a stock rom so you're uprooted n everything and can get the update?
Exactly. I've read if some system apps (even bloatware) is missing or changed then the update won't be installed. However, I really want to integrate some updates into the system to free up space on my internal.

I'm just wondering if flashing these current stock ROMs also refresh/return original system apps, including bloat, to normal to make it possible to update stock updates.

Then again... I guess if I do get carried away with removing and changing this stuff I could always flash the stock update just like I did with the T-mobile ROM... so I guess my question might just be mute lol This just literally dawned on me. I guess nevermind lol

These OP instructions seem outdated & overly complicated.

This thread for the F3 has the most simple process of unbricking & restoring to stock. I just performed it yesterday on an F3. What I did:

1. Find & download the stock .kdz image for your phone (TMobile & MetroPCS are interchangeable & mostly the same)
2. Download the KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.zip tools file
2. Install Windows LG phone drivers
3. Put phone into emergency download mode (Power off, hold vol-up, plug in USB cable to PC)
4. Open KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
5. For "Type" choose 3GQCT, choose in "Phonemode": Emergency
6. Click the folder icon and choose the kdz file
7. Click Launch software update. Takes about 5-10 minutes.

Actually using the LG mobile support tool and the upgrade recovery option is a lot easier than what you just said to do all you have to do is plug your phone into your computer let it connect to the tool then hit the option button and then hit upgrade recovery then ok and you're done. You don't need to download any ROMs any KDZ loaders or flashers or put your phone into any kind of wacky mode.

You're most definitely right if you just want to unroot and/or unbrick. However, in my situation (trying to switch ROMs) it was much easier for me than the method mentioned in the OP.

yes you can restore your phone back to unrooted condition by hooking it to your computer n opening your LG mobile support tool clicking the option button up top after it's connected to your phone and hit recovery upgrade then hit OK and you're done it will recover your phone back to unrooted status and leave everything else intact

Also I wouldn't recommend using the vroot. If you wanted to root your phone I would go ahead and look on the lg optimus f6 forum and using Trevor's root method. It's cleaner and easier to use

That's great and all, unless you're me. I updated to version 12b(metro) and now I cant get back to 10I in order to ROOT. And the long KDZ method brings me to the same place. it opens the LG tool and says I'm up to date so it won't flash the KDZ I dl'd. SO, I CAN'T GO BACK LIKE I NEED TO!!! Until someone comes up with a direct way to root this update, I'm worse off than I was with the 10I version of the software. At least then I had the freedom Kernel and root access. And without root, I cant flash anything from SD because I don't have CWM Recovery anymore. Someone please help me get back on track.
PLUS, all of my apps are still tied by Link2SD and I want them back! my mem card and phone are really pissed at me! No root=No awesomeness...

Hello everyone,

I found a way to go back to complete stock unrooted!
This will also unbrick your device if you ever get stuck at any point!
This took 5min to flash.
Also make sure your phone is 100% Charge, other wise things will go wrong.

Sorry, but once you've done what I did, your method doesn't work. I installed the latest 12b update and now I CAN'T KDZ anything. It will work until the LG tool sees that you have the latest version, then it stops. It won't flash an older version of the software. I tried a bunch of variances. Luckily, no brick. Just stock firmware that can't be rooted, ...yet. I'm pissed! I should've read more before updating!

you can try this for the older version this is the e version for metroPCS f6 their should be the same for T-Mobile version

You can Emode unbrick

take the batery out and re put back in with phone off and hold volume up and connect usb cord and wait for emode and yes if promts and then do the following files for your phone

http://androidforums.com/metropcs-o...nbrick-kdz-metropcs-updated-11-13-2013-a.html

use this link its direct link for nesseary files

http://dl.xda-developers.com/attach...18f7/525a1816/1/6/2/1/5/3/1/KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.zip

extract the zip and right click on uptextmod2 and properties and compabability with windows xp s3

ok go back and right click the file and run as administrator

use the kdz file link
Free File Sharing and Storage made Simple. this one may be direct download not sure

once the app is open look for phone mode and applied emergency and look for the kdz file you downloaded and extracted anywhere and apply the kdz file hit start upgrade and just wait for the reboot and your phone is alive again hope this works

I got my MetroPCS Optimus F6 stuck in boot loop I got it rooted fine, but when I went to configure WiFi Tether I messed something up, and here I am. When I go through the steps posted, after I click "Upgrade Start" my LG Mobile Support tool runs and does nothing. There is no option for me to select "English" or anything else. Is there an option to do this without connecting to the internet? What other options are there to restore my phone?

So I was able to unbrick my phone using this method. http://androidforums.com/metropcs-t...8-guide-unbrick-unroot-lg-optimus-f3-kdz.html
Be sure to find the .KDZ you need for your phone. I used the one in the tutorial and still had to update my software when finished...small price to pay for getting my phone back. Many thanks to Sepero for the post. Hope this helps
