battery life in real world?

I can say that it lasts a lot longer than my S3 did. It also seems to be smarter about not burning the battery when I get into a bad place for reception. For instance, my S3 would actually get hot when I go to an Orlando Magic game and I am in the stadium with 15,000 other people fighting for the cell tower. It would burn off 30-40% of the battery just sitting there for 2.5 hours barely even using it. Wednesday night I went to the game and the phone not only worked better in the crowd at pulling up scores of other games, but it was still at 55% when I got home at midnight after a long day that started at 100% at 7am and no additional charging.

agree 100%. I am coming from the s3 as well and battery life is significantly better! my s3 used to heat up in a bad service area or when there when I was in a crowded place, like a concert, too. Havent been to a concert or anything yet, but so far, battery life has been amazing, can't complain. at the end of the day for the past week it's been at most 50% and at least 20% I have still never gotten the "low battery" warning.

I am going to switch to Galaxy S5. My only concern is its battery life if with a lot of use. Can anyone tell me the battery life in real world?

I am astonished that the S5 is so much better on the battery than my S2 was. Bigger screen faster processor and better battery life. Impressive! And it is a gorgeous, buttery smooth phone. If you're worried get an extra battery and keep a charged battery handy. I don't think you will need it but that depends on your usage.

At first, a month ago when ordering up my S5 getting a spare battery was on my bucket list.

Now with experience that requirement is gone.

If during a day of heavy use and it gets low enough to worry, I will just put it into one of the two Power Saving modes.

That option has never been available to me before.

That said though, I use Battery Doctor religiously.
I also w/o fail Close Down all applications before I put the phone to sleep.

I just stated that in reverse order,
1 - Close Applications
2 - Tickle Battery Doctor's widget
3 - Tickle the Power Button and put it to sleep.
Yesterday morning my phone was at 100% having been left on the charger overnight.

Right now, at 0100 with some use, mostly just using the menu system to look up how to be precise in posting help to readers here, the battery is still at 82%

That ain't shabby, I don't care who's world you live in.

Oh, one more thing that is critical if worried about battery life.
Turn OFF the Location feature. Pull down the Notifications Bar and "Location" button is there. If I don't need the GPS, I turn that thing OFF. Leave it ON and you will notice battery life suffers.

I don't care how much mother Google complains, where I am is my business.

I can definitely notice a difference for the better coming from my S4 to the S5.... I am a heavy user of my phone throughout the day. Lots of emails and calendar updates. Usualy a couple of hours of phone calls, and a maybe 100 texts, as well a using a plantronics blue tooth stereo headset to listen to some music while I'm running my excavator. I quite often have to charge it once, just to give it a boost, throughout the day. But it's noticeably better than my S4 was.

Kinda on topic, I have found that a regular USB charger can charge from flat in 7 hours, or 4 minutes per %. The USB 3.0 charger takes 2 hours from flat - just about a minute per %. YMMV - these were calculated from wall chargers, not from USB ports on the computer. And, obviously, you won't get 2 hours charged with USB 3.0 charger unless you have a 2.1A adapter.

FWIW... ;)

I am seeing much the same thing as reported here.

The supplied wall charger takes my S5 from a nominal 8%-10% to 100% in 90 minutes. I have yet to run it flat dead.

The computer port and the older wall charger for my 'S' phone charge at the rate noted above.

I use my phone heavy on a couple days a week, most of the time it is in standby or just browsing the forums, reading emails.

I have Auto-Sync turned off. I sync my mail and forums manually. This extends the battery life a bit more.
