Root [Virgin Mobile] CyanogenMod 10.2 Stable Release/Official CM 11 Upcoming! (Edit: It's Here!!)

Hello, I am running CyanogenMod 11-20131212-NIGHTLY-d2spr and my carrier is Virgin Mobile.

I can send and relieve text messages, but whenever I try to turn on my data, nothing happens. The phone works normally, and I can connect to WiFi.

This is a screenshot of my "Mobile Network Settings" page: http://i.imgur.com/BidHVaL.jpg

This is a screenshot of my "About Phone" page in settings: http://i.imgur.com/EPkuAZr.jpg

I tried flashing the universal Virgin Mobile fix from this page (http://androidforums.com/virgin-mob...ms-fix-wip-cm-aosp-tw-update-2014-1-18-a.html) but it seems like it didn't do anything.

I apologize for my ignorance, but if someone could point me in the correct direction and help me fix this, I would be ever so grateful. Thank you! If you need any more information about my phone, just ask, but I really need this fixed. Thanks again!

You're on MK3, which is a sprint modem. Why you flashed that, who knows, but find the MK5 virgin mobile modem and flash that :p

In your first screenshot, where it says "Preferred Network Type" open that up and see what is selected. Pretty sure that is where your problem lies. The option called "Global" works well for me.

So as a follow-up to last night's post, after the initial announcement of the M4 Snapshot from CyanogenMod, the devices which have unified builds (ours, plus there are a couple of other devices) will not be receiving the M4 Snapshot build. Bummer for sure, but the maintainers for the various devices felt it would not be in the best interest of the users of those devices. Read more here:

I downloaded the CM 20140308 Nightly d2lte and have no data.

I tried the Universal APN fix, but still nothing.

After searching on the forums, I decided to download the CM 11 20140214 Nightly from this thread [ROM][4.4.2]CyanogenMod 11[02/14][d2vmu], made by ebildude.

With this one, I had data and I read that doing a dirty flash of the d2lte would carry over the apn settings of the d2spr, it didn't as I still didn't have any data.

Is there something I'm missing? The last d2spr works fine, but no data with the d2lte versions.

Another note, I'm still running the MG2 because I never updated OTA and have been running Carbon for a while.

Any help or suggestions would be great.

Thanks.

Not sure if this would help, but I know it wouldn't hurt. You may want to upgrade your modem to MK5. This will not Knox you, it is just the modem which might be needed for the latest CM11 roms. You can get it HERE. The link sends you to XDA to a post by member jdsingle76 there. It is flashable through Philz Recovery.

You also mentioned Dirty Flashing, you didn't do this coming from Carbon did you? It is highly recommended to do a clean flash when switching ROMs

Hey Struckn. I really appreciate your post on how to get CM11 on the Virgin Mobile SPH-L710. So far your rom is the only one I can flash. I went to the CyanogenMod download page and none of the Sprint downloads will flash. I always get the (Status 7) installation aborted message. Any knowledge about this?

I'm at work right now using Tapatalk, but if you haven't already, you need to read my sticky User Guide for Custom ROMs. Also, read up on the unified d2lte builds in general, and I will catch up with you in a couple of hours.

I hope struckn doesn't mind me chiming in.

The link to the new Cyanogen Device download for our phones is now:

CyanogenMod Downloads for d2lte

The scene has gone to a unified ROM style to hopefully make their lives easier. So where before we used the d2spr roms, everyone now used the d2lte if you have a device intended for us in the United States. With these new unified roms, there is no need to make any changes to the rom. You should be able to download and flash. (no changing asserts lines or anything like that) Just be sure you upgrade your recovery to a d2lte edition if you haven't already. The link for our prefered recovery (Philz) is:

Philz Touch for d2lte

If you were interested in what changes between nightlies, you can check out the below link to the change log:

CM11 Nightlies Changelog - D2lte

If you need any help, I am also available to assist. Or, of course, you can wait for struckn to become available.

Ok so I'm brand new to this stuff, just rooted my phone 2 days ago and I have an old version of Philz because of the directions I was using. What should I do to get the newest version on my phone? Do I use odin and download to my phone or what? Please speak to me like I am a noob since I am, details are not a problem.

Thanks.

Latest Philz is 6.26.6, you can download it here:

There is a flashable zip, which you flash like any other zip from the recovery you have now, and there is also a .tar file option, which you would push to your phone with Odin. Dealer's choice, doesn't matter which, just choose an option with which you're comfortable. If you are several versions behind, though, or are using one of the d2spr versions, then the Odin route might be better.

Thanks for the help, this thread in general has been a huge help getting into the world of rooting and roms.

No problem. Feel free to post or PM for any further help/recommendations. I am currently highly recommending LiquidSmooth, along with AICP and Beanstalk for KitKat builds. I actually doubt I will ever flash CM again, several other ROM's are far superior in my opinion. CM thinks their s**t don't stink now that they are their own corporation, when in reality it stinks to high heaven.

What is the difference between the .zip and .zip.md5 files?
