Regarding New System Update... 4/8/2014

Why is everyone trying to rid themselves of this update? or block it for that matter, it can be rooted with no issue.. What's so bad about the update no one wants to download it?

Because there's no easy way to root after updating to 12b. A couple of known options are still a huge hassle.

1. Flashable rooted 12b, must install custom recovery first in 10i, which from what I've read can also brick if a future update overwrites the recovery partition by accident.

2. Use OTA root keeper app, still a hassle, and not sure if it keeps certain components from 10i into 12b, since it "restores the rooted" section, which kinda defeats the purpose of an update.

3. Kingo root (at least latest v1.2.2) is not consistently working for people.

If you want to help solve this, post a new thread with clear instructions that is confirmed by others, and maintain the OP so it stays concise & clear as new info is discovered. Every phone's rooting forum needs a thread like it.

Took me one set of instructions, and less than 10 minutes and I had my phone rooted.

It's only as hard as you make it to be.

Refresh my memory as I cant keep track what worked for who, which steps did you go through?

I installed Framaroot.apk latest edition.
Opened it and Clicked on Gimli.
Then used and installed http://goo.gl/chwkVs (Disregarded Errors)
Then installed latest version of KingoRoot 1.2.2.1915
Put phone into LG Software mode and clicked Root on Kingo.
2 minutes later phone was rooted.

Hello, hope you all dont mind me intruding. I am new to android and I just got an LG Optimusf6, from metro. I got it about 3 days ago with MS50012B installed so I am not sure if I can revert back to the old OS. can you elaborate on the process you used to root your phone? thank you.

Ive been looking everywhere online but it seems if I want to root my phone I would have to go one firmware down from where I am at and I am not sure if that is possible, considering technically I have never owned my phone on anything but 12b.
again thank you all.

got this solved thanks to GameTheory
