Help sprint LTE issue

I have noticed a problem with my sprint g2. I am having problems keeping my LTE signal. Places where I could get LTE signals with my old original galaxy nexus I am only getting 3g with this phone. If I ever switched to 3g on my nexus I would restart the phone and usually for several days it would stay LTE. With the g2 I restart and keep LTE for a few seconds before it switches to 3g all while not being moved. I saw on a couple sites that the Sim card was incorrect and needed to be changed. How do I find out if my Sim card is the correct one? Any other fixes I should look at?

Take the phone to your Sprint store - they can tell if the SIM card is the right one. (The "right one" depends on the carrier.) But if it's a 3G-only SIM card you wouldn't be getting LTE at all, so it might be a defective phone. (And it should still be under warranty, since it was only announced less than a year ago.)

OF course, the problem may be just a coincidence, and Sprint may be having LTE problems in your area that started at the same time you got the phone. If the store personnel can't help you, ask where their nearest support center is.

How good is the radio in the g2? I read all over that the radio in my old nexus was terrible and I get mixed reviews I am reading on the g2. I know that I can be standing next to someone with sprint using a note 2 or an s4 and they get LTE no problem inside a building and I am stuck on 3g. I don't want to have to reboot my phone every time I want to have faster data.

I looked at that and I am amazed at the huge effort it seems that Sprint is putting forth to not admit to this issue. They want everyone to check all other avenues all the while it looks as if everyone is having the same issue. Amazing that random people on the internet can diagnose a problem to an exact point while the people at sprint won't admit any wrongdoing.

I hear ya! Mine is a little different than most. I get LTE for the most part but my issue is the phone will drop to 3G and won't pick up LTE when in a known LTE area. I have to toggle airplane mode on/off and then I'll have LTE again. More of an inconvenience than anything but still.

This sounds like the circuit switch fallback issue.

Im not at my computer right now, but the gist of it is because the G2 is a triband device you can only get 4g LTE on fully upgraded LTE towers.

Your galaxy nexus didn't require this. So it could use 4G on those towers.

I'll provide more information later this afternoon.

Edit: looks like someone else beat me by like 15 hours. Note to self- read the whole thread -DOH!

Rxpert83: don't you think Sprint should be obligated to notify customers of the issue and allow them to walk if they aren't satisfied?

I understand the frustration, I was affected by it as well up until the past month.

Sprint delayed the release of the G2 for as long as they could in order to patch the issue. Googles release of the Nexus 5 pretty much forced their hand. Triband devices were on the market, and Sprint couldn't do anything about it.

A notice went out to sprint employees back in November about the issues, if customers complained they should have been informed. At that point you've got 2 weeks from the purchase date to return your device to sprint.
