Phone carrier

it was a little tricky. you could be in an area with bad sprint service. if you have low strength signal, using any kind of social networking app is a big no-no. that goes for BM apps and google apps too. all will hog your tiny bandwidth. leaving you with unusable internet.
root your phone, install a minimalistic custom rom with no bloatware, it will also have minimum google apps and a light aosp browser, use the browser to log on to all social network sites etc. most useless thing in a boostmobile phone is their app. it is 100 times easier to go to internet in a computer and log on their site. so flip the bird to those pesky apps, boost, google and enjoy your tolerable internet. :smokingsomb:
i have a retired galaxy prevail sitting in my house with gingerbread, that is almost as smooth as my nexus 5. i was using it like 4 months ago. used it for internet exclusively for last 2 months of boost mobile service. about 20 GB a month. most of my internet use is video streaming which is impossible with boost. so i used to download them overnight. voila. ;)

It is great, if you're in an area they're good. I didn't have social apps on my Hydro and the first month and a half I did go through maybe 3.5 GBs. That was 11 months ago. The 2nd month before I reached 2.5 my data was getting even slower and through the 3rd month barely usable. I fixed my WiFi and then I never got data at all. If I switched off the WiFi to try the data literally nothing would happen. No 4g, and nothing was happening on 3g (I tested that too).

But before then, I also downloaded any videos I wanted to see before I could watch them. But only little short ones.

If they work in your location, that's great.

I've dealt with the terrible data speeds (100-200kb/s on a good day, 0.5 KB/s on a bad one  ) for years, and network vision is finally coming to fruition here.

I'm almost always on their LTE now, which is plenty fast.

The good news is Sprints always had solid voice coverage near me, its just the data that has struggled.

Yes, even when I couldn't use the data, the voice was good.

And in my opinion, tmobiles signal is far from great, and I'm in Houston, a major city.

I'm wondering when you last tried T-Mobile? There may be some areas of the city where it isn't great but I've had few issues with T-Mobile in Houston -- ranging from Clearlake, up to Hockley, and the Woodlands. From my experience, overall coverage (at least where I've used it) tends to be similar strength as AT&T's signal.

I have T-Mobile due to wanting unlimited data without a two year contract. Sprint's call reception was poor and their data speeds were as slow as dialup. They have recently improved their data speeds but there call reception is still the same. Verizon was the best service but it was too expensive for only 2GB of data. No Nexus 5 on Verizon either.

Overall, I have been the happiest with T-Mobile.

My family and I are on MetroPCS for about 4 years now. We moved from T-mobile because my dad and I were using phones for work too and we went over the limit on minutes which resulted on insanely large bill. By that time, Metro's unlimited talk, txt, and data were truly wise choice.

We live in philly, have 4 lines total. Never had problem as far as staying in touch.

I finally got a Nexus 5 few weeks ago and i truly have no complaint. I had LG L9 before this which was a bad decision, but only choice i had then.

My family has 4 lines:
1st line - $45/m 2.5Gb 4G LTE, unlimited talk and sms.
2nd & 3rd lines - $35/m 500Mb 4G LTE, unlimited talk and sms.
4th line - $25/m 250Mb 4G LTE, unlimited talk and sms.

The 1st line is mine and I never go over 2.5Gb. I try to use wifi as much as I can.
The 2nd and 3rd lines are my brother's and my mom's. My brother is a college student and he always have wifi at campus, so yeah...My mom uses facebook and kakao talk to talk to her friends in other countries.
The 4th line belongs to my dad who....does nothing else but calling and...very little txting....very little.

My parents still have CDMA phones. Planning on getting them GSMs before T-Mobile shut them down in philly for good.
