Dell 1545 issues help please.

it crashes after about 5 minutes on it turning on.

Crashes, as in blue-screens? What error code is displayed, and which file (usually an .exe or.dll) is responsible?

Is the optical drive set as bootable in the BIOS? If so and it's rebooting rather than loading the setup routine, then the drive and/or disc may be bad.

Hi slug. Nope not blue screens. Sorry i written that first post after a 14 hours night shift. Let me be a bit more specific. The laptop boots into to windows some times but it crashes after abhout 5 minute on the desktop normally if i use chrome or and other app. Erm when i have tryed to reinstall windows upgrade it to windows 7, i have changed the boot squence in the BIOS to boot from the CD, It has the loading paths "Windows is loading files" it then gets to the boot image "starting Windows" then it doesnt move from there. I have tryed a different HDD and would a external Optical drive help me? or have yo any more advice?

You say crash, which normally means a blue screen of some sort. Are you saying that the machine just freezes up and fails to respond to any keyboard or mousing actions?

Or does it shut down, or reboot?

Aw sorry i didnt relise, Yeah it just freezin with no reposnce to mouse or the keyboard. the main the thing is i cant get to the computer to reinstall windows 7. and when i go to turn it on now it gets stuck on the boot image,

Do you have access to another machine? I'd suggest getting hold of a bootable CD with memtest86+ on it (nearly any Linux distro has this on their live CDs, or download from here) and give that a go.

Erratic freezes such as this suggests a hardware problem, and since you have already tried replacing the hard drive, the memory is the next likely candidate.
