Maybe odd question: Verizon sales person...

Nearly 2 years ago, we purchased 4 phones from a Cellular Connection salesman. Our contract is nearly up (May 1st), and we do plan to stick with Verizon. We are happy with our service (it beats Sprint that we had about a million times over).

My question: this salesman we have since learned has some shady business ways (he was caught in several lies) so if we stick with Verizon and purchase some new phones, will this first sales person receive anything from our purchase? If so, I will have to rethink this entire situation. I do not want this male to benefit from anything my family might purchase from Verizon.

Do I have anything to be concerned about or will this not even be an issue?

Thanks so much to all replies. (please do not reply with any snide comments, I have very good reasons for not wanting to help pad this persons wallet.)

Regards,
Ms Scarlett

The only thing you have to be concerned about is whether Verizon gives any commission to the person originally opening an account when the account is renewed. That's something no one will tell you but, as an ex-cellphone store owner (not for Verizon) I can tell you that we never received a penny after the initial account was opened, except for large business accounts.

And you don't have to renew anything. If you do nothing, you'll be off-contract under the same terms (prices, minutes, etc.) that you had under the contract - with the exception that you can leave Verizon any time you want with no penalty. You won't get new subsidized phones if you don't renew, but if you're content with the phones you have, just don't do anything except keep paying the bill when it arrives.

If, at some time in the future you decide you want a new phone at a subsidized price, or you want to change the "plan" (which you're not really gong to be on after May 1, but you'll be charged the same thing for the same service), then you can go to Verizon and talk about the change you want, and a new contract. You never know what they'll come up with next month or next year. (At one time, unlimited talk was unheard of - the best plans gave you about 2,400 minutes/month, and most people paid less per month for their mortgage than for that plan.)

As far as that salesman, though, what Verizon does or doesn't pay him isn't only out of your hands, it's out of your ability to find out, so my advice to you is to not think about it any more. Anger only hurts the person who's angry.

@DaSmokinLoon, I do appreciate it and thanks for responding. I did more research on it just to be sure and I do feel better. I wasn't angry about it (as my first response suggested), I just didn't want to pad this persons pocket with anything. The situation was so bad, I was willing to change carriers if that's who my purchase would have benefited. (this is extreme for me if you knew me)

I do feel better and actually was just as a Verizon store yesterday. :D

Thanks again, have a great Saturday!
