Help Galaxy Nexus Won't turn on or charge! HELP ME PLEASE!!

Ok well i checked the dates and looks like people are keeping up on this thread. so far i've been through about 20 attempts at all the above mentioned procedures.
What had happened in my situation is this.
i started my day with about 20% battery life (this was yesterday) i got to my office and plugged it into my laptop for about an hour and a half, this where my phone started acting funny.... i was using my gps and im sure a few other background programs, and when i would tap the power button to lock my phone it would go dark like it supposed to but then wouldn't spring back to life after tapping it again, however if i were to plug it into a charger (my car charger which is verizon same as my phone.) the screen would come back and it would work fine until i had tapped the power button again to lock it.
Later on that day it died and of course wouldn't turn back on. so here i am now. One of the cords i am using is a usb cable when i plug that one into either my pc/laptop/wall adapter the same thing happens which is, I get the white battery with the lightning Bolt which then changes to just a solid white battery, fades to black, and continues in this rotation.

so after my failed attempts with this cord i took it to a verizon store the same one where i had purchased the phone, they had a charger there, he plugged it in and held the buttons down and got the green android screen with a big START button and an arrow pointing towards the power button, under the android dude it said downloading it dd NOT allow us to select any options even the start thingy that was there. I didnt want to waste anymore of their time so i bought the same exact charger they were using (brand new though DUH!).

so what happens when i use my brand new charger? well i ONLY get the solid white battery with a BLack background for about a half a second then it fades to black and doesn't show a battery of any sort until i unplug and re-plug.

i'm lost frustrated and miserable am i doing the steps wrong? should i let it charge for a longer time? oh and i'm getting no LED light what so ever.

Please help me I really need this phone for work.

I assuming you've tried a battery pull?

The "should" have been able to do more trouble shooting at the VZW store :/

Having switched chargers and still nothing.

If you plug it into a computer does it recognize the phone at all? i.e. the computer will beep and show the USB symbol?

Can you get a charged battery to try? either a friends or at the VZW store?

Depending on your answers, my guees would be either:

1. the battery's is bad (finding one would verify this)

2. And this is the most likely answer. The charge port on the GN went bad. GN's are notorious for charge port issues. If you can find a cellphone repair shop they may be able to fix it for a reasonable cost ( assuming its out of warranty)

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm having a very similar problem and wondered if you'd ever found a solution to this?

In my case, my GN was working perfectly. I was using it on wi-fi, and suddenly the screen brightness flickered up and the screen turned off. I couldn't get it to come back on. After a battery pull, trying to boot the phone normally did nothing on battery alone. But when I plugged in the charger, I had the same thing as the OP: the little battery with a lightning bolt appeared, and slowly cycled on and off.

When I tried again to boot with the charger connected, the white 'Google' appeared as expected when starting a bootup - but after a second or two, it disappeared and went back to the little 'battery charging' display again.

After another battery pull and with the charger connected, I was able to hold the volume buttons and power up into bootloader mode. I selected 'recovery' and that worked as well. I was even able to restore an older Nandroid backup, just in case this was caused by a ROM issue (it wasn't; I still couldn't boot up the phone).

I kept trying, and just once managed to boot into Android normally -- but the phone turned off within about 15 seconds. During that brief time, though, the battery display showed it 98% charged.

Now, it's gotten worse: I can still power up into either bootloader or ODIN mode, but can't do anything beyond that. I can't even get into recovery mode anymore; it just goes black and then the battery charging icon appears again.

Big question for anyone who knows: If the battery is totally dead, should I still be able to boot and operate the phone normally if it's connected to a high-current USB power source (e.g., a 2.1 amp charger)? Or is a decent battery required to do anything at all? I'm wondering, because if the charger is connected but the battery is NOT installed, the phone won't do anything at all.

One of the sales guys at BestBuy suggested trying a new battery, but I hate to throw money away if that isn't the problem and I end up having to toss the phone anyway. And naturally, BestBuy doesn't have any loose batteries for the GN laying around anymore that we could try.

It seems like, just all of a sudden, I'm seeing similar problems with the GN posted on various Android forums. Could it be that we all purchased these phones right at the beginning, and all the original batteries are starting to fail around the same time??
