Google+ is on life support... Android and YouTube to be seperated from Google+?!?

I was really annoyed the first time I went to leave a comment on the Play Store and was told I had to have a Google+ account to post. I set one up and never used it. Having the option for all of Google's services to work together makes a lot of sense. But, the way they forced it on users was very frustrating. I still get annoyed with YouTube when I have to sign out of my Google+ YouTube account to get into my original account, just because I chose not to use my real name on YouTube.

I think people are tired of being told to share all and are starting to push back.

Google doesn't need that much for an ad profile. It would be to Google's advantage to let people pick and choose how much or how little they want of the services. There would be far less resentment than "opt in to everything"
and more cooperation with the services the user picks.

i quite like Google+ (not nearly as cluttered and glitchy as Facebook, no game invite annoyances, better targeted ads that are more relevant--i can't tell you how many times i sent feedback to Facebook insisting i'm vegan and a deer lover and yet i still get ads for hunting, steak, and suggested pages for deer hunting while G+ gets it right and suggests vegan cooking sites, etc)

i just hate the Play Store and associated apps and prefer Samsung and Amazon alternatives--but sadly Google seems jealous and is making those go the way of the dinosaur with the Galaxy S5. if i must use a Youtube app i often use one of the old versions that are pre-Google.

I'd be really hurt if g+ died but it honestly won't happen .
This whole thing stems from an article by a dude who used g+ before they introduced "communities" and who isn't a member of one so to him, g+ seems like a barron waste ground. That's half the beauty of it, you have to actively find something you're interested in for it all to fit into place. Like real life, interests and interesting people don't just come looking for you.
Nothing is "in your face".
As a user, g+ to me is thriving and the fact that some pretty high up "googlers" use the site gives me confidence that it isn't "walking dead".
Maybe Google will spend less resources on it because it's pretty good as it is?

I don't know if Google ever intended it to compete with Facebook but in my eyes it's a completely different genre and what I love most about it is that none of my real-life friends use it :beer:

I actually have nearly no use for g+ aside from AF's g+ group which I very rarely follow on.

If it does happen to die out like MySpace did some odd years ago, won't exactly hurt my feelings as I'm just not a social network person anymore.

To be fair mate the AF G+ community is a bad example. I was one of the first to try and breathe some life into that community but I failed badly lol. Whenever I check up on it it's just a wasteland with the occasional tumbleweed of spam :D
Communities, like forums, need good moderation and lively members

Well when I do hop on g+, typically I do see half the stuff that funky posts.

Pretty entertaining for a night of drinking

i aim to please lol  hope you saw my karaoke performance before the vid got pulled :D

I use the pic upload but I love the stuff ppl put on there. Its more of a grown up site. No drama or the nonsense that ppl put on fb!

Exactly. I use it more like a forum site. I love the communities and yeah (most) people are more inclined to put up interesting stuff for the world to see instead of, as on Facebook, telling their friends what they had for dinner :D

The difference between G+ and FB is: FB is where you go to be "friends" with people from high school, and your family. G+ is where you go to meet new people and people you actually WANT to talk to.

My real life social interactions are increase way more than it ever did with FB.

I find that the criticisms I see about G+ are from people like at the beginning of this thread: animosity about Google's services integration. I have not yet encountered someone that used both FB AND G+ equally and decided they preferred FB.

Although I've never met face to face anyone I met on g+ since most of them are in different countries but people are nice on there, just today I got a parcel from a dude on g+, vaping (e-cigarette) stuff and ive never met him.
Last year I needed urgent advice about an injured pet, put up a post and pretty soon I was chatting to a qualified vet.
A dude in Malaysia is sending my wife some otterbox cases for her phone.

Facebook is where my real life friends moan about stuff and bitch about each other lol. None of my real friends know what a custom rom is so g+ is a cool place to chat to people with the same interests plus it's made me more understanding of other cultures (the US for example) :)

I happen to use G+ a lot. I would have preferred that Google did not force everyone to get a G+ account. There was a huge backlash when they did that with YouTube. I think they should have given the option and not keep hounding me to unify everything. I have a separate YouTube account which I don't really use, but got annoyed when every time I used YouTube, it seems to ask me to pick an account (G+ or YouTube) as had an account on both system. I got fed up and just defauted to G+.
