Not put out by Sprint. Go over to Area51 and ask if they think it's possible to port it. (Probably not, considering the amount of storage and RAM. I doubt you could put Jellybean on it)
true. but i had ics rom from the prevail on it. it was buggy but all in all it could work on here. and i think with a little adjustments and mods it could work on here
We (Android Area 51) could try and port KK to this poor little device, but lacking the kernel support is going to make it highly difficult if not impossible. If we can just get Samsung to release the drivers for the filesystem...
isnt the kernel for this device on their website? idc on some features as long as it gets ported and most things work for the phone i dont mind. and what do you need for the kernel? ill test the build on my phone and report on here and over to aa51
i see. well can a kernel be compiled for the phone or is it more troublesome than it seems.
but wait two of my phones have 3.0.8 kernel. and they are booted just fine. so can we port a 3.0.8 kernel instead of a 3.4 kernel or not.
You're running KK on a 3.0? That's good. In any case, Samsung released most of the kernel source but decided a proprietary filesystem was a good idea. They never released the source for this filesystem setup, so it's hard to port the Precedent to a higher version.
At the most basic level, Android operates on 2 levels (much like linux). You have the kernel and the software. The kernel holds ALL of the parameters for the hardware. If something is disabled in the kernel, it WILL NOT work through software. The filesystem drivers I'm talking about are a kernel thing. They have to be built alongside the kernel or they won't work right.
