32 would be the same as the 3, which can handle a 128GB card, but we still need rooted apps or rewritten ones to handle the new security.

Again, the 3 has 3. Maybe we'll really need 4 in a few years.

The 3 barely fits in my shirt pocket now, and I wear knit polo shirts. The Mega doesn't.

I'm still on 4.3. If they screw 4.5 and/or 5.0 as much as they did 4.4, I'll still stay with 4.3. Or Ubuntu.

I don't travel, and where I am I'm glad I get 3mbps LTE. Not enough towers for the population. Besides, other than speed tests, when is the last time you downloaded something from Megaupload at 30mbps?

22MP camera

That's more real than reality. Fine-grain film is about 10Mp equivalent. That's a 35mm slide blown up to 4 or 5 feet. At 22Mp you'd need a magnifying glass on an 8X10 to see some of the larger tiny things. Just looking at the print at 2 feet with the naked eye you can't tell the difference between 10Mp and 22Mp even if the printer is capable of that kind of resolution (which no home printer is today). Even blowing the pic up to a 75" TV wouldn't show much difference unless you were sitting too close to be comfortable.

All the sizzle, no steak. How about no Knox, an unlocked bootloader, no voided warranty for rooting? Maybe bake Tasker into the stock ROM?

No, they'll change the shape and make the back cover prettier - things that will definitely improve the quality of the phone experience. </sarcasm>

I'm very excited about the note 4. Much like you I already have my funds set aside, however I don't have my unlimited data anymore

I'm still using my note 2, and I have gotten a ton of use out of it. The S pen makes it super easy for me to take notes and to make procedures/guides for work. I absolutely love the big screen and battery as well. I haven't had many issues with my note 2 and it's still holding up pretty well to this day. I didn't see a big reason to upgrade when the note 3 came out, however the rumored specs on this upcoming beast are insane. I"m just excited to have a powerhouse of a phone, and just a new phone in general. I'm a huge fan of the note series and having a hard time seeing myself getting something else.

Has there been much rumored as far as battery size? I understand that this is all very early speculation, but I was just curious.

I can't wait for it...I held on to my Note 2 waiting for the 4. I have an upgrade in August so that will work good as far as timing goes. I hope that it isn't any larger....

I personally love the idea of having the cover closed and still getting notifications on the edge of the phone. That's just plain cool to me. Not sure what I would do with a third side, but a 2-sided Youm display would be rockin'.

I absolutely can't wait for the Note 4. I hope it has all bands so it can be "Sprint Spark" compatible! I really hope they don't make the screen size bigger. I have the Note 3, and the size of the screen is already big enough. It's hard to use the device with 1 hand. I had to turn on my 1 hand operation. If anything, they should reduce the size by 0.1mm smaller. I also heard that the Note 4 resolution is going to be more and also it has ultra HD! That's a big plus. However, those are just rumors. :thinking:

Hey Chong, I was born & raised in Atlanta

If this device comes with 2k or even 4k resolution, then it's really designed for hi-res movie watching. Nothing like watching Star Wars blu-ray in 1080p on the Note 3... I can't imagine 4k on a phone! Anyway, if it's really a movie theater in your hand, I would only expect that there would be left/right speakers on the top & bottom of the device.

A back-firing mono speaker would be horrific (even though I wear a Bluetooth stereo headset).

At least a left and right on the side like on those Tab.

Looking at trends, I dont think the price would drop maybe like $50. Should I buy it right away or buy it at Fry's in about 30 days later.

Whether I care about this phone (or even feel an urge to get it) depends more on Google I/O than it does on the specs. I'm happily in 2014, where even a US GS3 can run Kit Kat and whatever is coming next without any issues.

What matters most to me moving forward is whether the OEMs (Samsung in this case) will commit to a faster update turnaround (if no, then I'm not interested), what Google introduces at Google I/O, and how they handle their services. If they aren't bringing native VoIP to Hangouts, then I'm gone. If they don't decouple Hangouts and Google Photos from Google+, then I'm gone.

It's time for these OEMs to stop throwing hardware at the user and focus more on the user experience, customer support, and delivering fixes for issues/FW Updates in a timely manner.

Now that I've gotten off of Social Media, Android devices (which feel more like Facebook phones these days) are looking a lot less attractive to me.

Apparently there is a rumor out there about TWO versions!

One is a traditional Note 4 candybar design. The other has a flexible screen.

Which will I buy? Well, unless the flex Note 4 is $1200 or something outrageous, I'll snap it up for cool factor alone

I don't see the utility of a flexible screen. Apart from it not breaking as easily (scratches are more of a risk than breaks for me and I don't see it being more durable from that respect), what is the benefit?

I seen a mock up of a screen that wrapped around the side, and that's a bit of an ergonomic nightmare, IMO, so I cannot see that being the case.

Also, what's the point of a flexible screen on a non-flexible phone (other than to wrap it around the phone or introduce a "flex" form factor)?

Well, I for one love the idea of seeing my notifications on the edge while the portfolio case is closed and the rest of the screen is off. The idea that the phone itself will flex and bend is kind of unrealistic at this point in time: but a flex screen built into the phone's solid frame would allow the edge notifications I refer to:

I think that's a pretty sexy concept, myself.

THAT SAID: I am about 90% convinced that the flex screen version will NOT be available in the USA. I believe it will be marketed in South Korea (like the Galaxy Round) and MAYBE Europe; but the idea that the Big Four in America would sell a flex-screen Note 4 should be short-lived. The flex version of the Note 4 will undoubtedly cost more than the flat version, and they are not in business to market really cool phones. They're in business to sell as many phones (and plans) to the masses as possible. I believe they'll treat the flex Note 4 like the plague.

And that's a real shame.

Come on, Verizon: prove me wrong and sell the flex version! There's money in the bank for you if you do

i'd much rather see a smaller "notification screen" on the back of the device, that could serve double duty as a selfie screen!

i personally think the curved wrap around screen is aesthetically unpleasing and a little more gimicky than practical, as in, different to be different rather than different for the functionality of it. seems like they're JUST trying to find an excuse to use a flexible screen.

100% agree.

I don't see any benefit to using such a ridiculously non-ergonomic form factor on a smartphone.

Looks like a durability nightmare too. Any edge drop can completely destroy the screen on a phone like that.

Well, it's looking more & more like incremental specs improvement.

TWO versions of the Note 4: main version will be a flat AMOLED display; a flexible or bent-screen OLED will be available in "limited markets". Which 99% means USA won't get it

Snapdragon 805 for LTE phones, Exynos octacore everywhere else
Up to 4GB RAM
32, 64 or MAYBE 128 GB internal storage
16-20 MP camera with optical image stabilization

So this begs the question: as awesome an upgrade as this is over the Note 3, is it honestly worth the $650 - $800 full retail price? For those of us on Verizon unlimited data, we HAVE to go full retail or go on a tiered data plan. Yes, I could sell the Note 3 for probably $350-$400... bringing the out-of-pocket cost down to a more realistic and workable amount. But still, that's a lot. I will probably bite anyway... we'll see.

What do you think? How does this change your outlook and expectation level?

I think it's too early to tell. We still don't have solid info on Note 4 yet though some specs are known.

It will surely have 2K AMOLED flat version. If they do flexible one, I think it will be similar to LG G flex, curved vertically. Wrapping around side is probably not going to happen. If they can do the same 2K QHD resolution on curved one, that would be very cool. G flex only had 720p.

S805 is sure thing here though I don't mind seeing Exynos 5433 + Intel LTE modem. 4Gb RAM would be great though 3Gb should be fine.

Most important thing is how they balance performance and battery life on QHD device. As it turns out G3 seems to have some thermal throttling, screen dimming issue when under heavy stress. Hopefully S805 does better job on this.

Honestly I am on the Edge plan because I wanted to test out how it is with my constant want/need to change phones every year

So my upgrade, if I choose to do it this winter, will be the same price as what I am currently paying now, so it wouldn't really make a difference to me as to whether it's worth it or not.

However, I really love my Note 3 right now, I got it up to 4.4.2 with ObjectiveROM, which is one of the best ROM experiences I have had on a phone....and I rooted/romed my Galaxy Nexus literally on a weekly basis.

This ROM, which you should check out Chief, but it doesn't have many features, very minimal. ROM size is only 500MB, as opposed to 2GB. Literally takes out all bloat, every single thing. It runs flawlessly, and the battery life, since there is no bloat or anything extra installed, is absolutely amazing!

Back on topic though, I will have to wait and see what devices are released around then, I mean heck, I might pick up a Motorola. The Note series though, would be difficult to say no to
