Looking at S5, Note III and S4

I had a Note II and loved it but never used the S-Pen, wondering if I should just look at the S5 or S4.

I have talked to people who have the S4 and say it is fine, but I like the new Health App on the S5, Waterproof, etc.

I am currently an iPhone 5 user and have iPhones since the 3G, so want to make the switch the S5 feels cheap and the S4 feels much sturdier. I think I am not going to choose the Note III due to it's size but just wondering what thoughts folks here have between S4 and S5?

One thing I did notice the quality of the case and plastic S5 is cheesy, however if you are saying it is that much better.

Also only the S5 has that health app option correct? That is not available on the S4, I am not worried about price, just wondering if the 5 is worth that much more then the 4, there is a $140 difference thru AT&T.

"Quality of the case" IMO is a "judgmental thing". Strictly a preference on Appearance, has nothing to do with the phone's ability to survive a physical crash with concrete or wood floors.

Once you put the phone in a protective case, the color or appearance are moot.

Plastic cases have a much better drop s u r v i v a l rate than a metal cased phone.
Plastic has give built in, metal gives the phone a solid 'jar' with a lot of faces being shattered.

My Galaxy 'S', the original Galaxy has been dropped so many times I can't count them. No blemishes on the case, and never a cracked face.

Plastic wins "hands down" for a phone's s u r v i v a l under difficult conditions.

darn forum filter will not let me enter the word "s u r v i v a l". Now what can be offensive about that?

I liked the S4 just fine. But I love the S5. It's faster, although the S4 was no slouch. But the camera is so much better, both the quality and UI. And the screen is in another league. I was reading articles outside on a sunny day. These were Pocket articles in dark mode (white text on black background), and even though there wasn't a cloud in the sky, I was able to easily read the screen without having to do anything to shade it.

The water resistance will come in handy at the pool and in the rain.
