Handcent, & I think possibly every other text app has the option of a popup. I just always turn that feature off. I've used Handcent for years & right now I'm trying Textra because I've heard a lot of good things about it too & it seems like it's smaller in size. Both of these apps have the option of your text appearing in a popup, or in the bar at the top of the screen, or neither, or both... etc. Very configurable.

But doesn't the G2 have it itself somehow? My LG Lucid does, so I would imagine this phone from LG would too. No?

There are people on VZW's site with Samsungs reporting post-KK, they have almost no reception where it used to be fantastic.

Did you backup your personal content and try a Factory Data Reset?

FWIW: there are people over there complaining of battery drain too on devices other than the G2.

Sometimes when I play with the G2 at the Verizon store, and try the volume buttons, the screen goes dark. Am I accidentally locking the phone perhaps, or is this just some stupid Verizon store thing?

I do wonder with the volume keys being right next to the power switch if this doesn't result in some issues. Anybody have any problems with this?

(I think I must be the most prolific poster in these G2 threads who doesn't actually own a G2…)

Locked. Does this sometimes happen given that the volume keys are next to the on/off switch, or no reports of this?

Sounds like that's what's happening, since the buttons are so close. I have the Verizon version too but I hardly every touch my volume buttons; I use Llama to manage my sound profiles & I always have it on vibrate only when I'm at work, full volume during the day, back to vibrate overnight. The only rare times I've messed with the volume keys has been if it's after my "night" setting kicks in & I'm fiddling with a ringtone or something like that.

It's definitely a risk since they're close together, but it hasn't happened to me even once yet.

So far one of my only gripes is the stock video player. I use the camera to film golf swings once in a while. The G2 does 60fps which is great, but it doesn't seem that the stock player has the ability to play back frame-by-frame and dragging the slide bar doesn't move the video. Anyone know of any video players that would do this better?

The solution to knock off the screen with Screen Off and Lock worked great!

I have no gripes. Everything on the phone works well. I've come from a rooted SGSIII, which i had to root in order to get the features that i wanted. The LG G2(D800) has some of those features in stock, which i'm running now. No need for me to change the led colors, the double blink in green tells me to check the phone anyway. The time between blinks is so minimal, it's a non-issue for me. I have group messaging with the stock app, and i love the keyboard. The knock on/off has also worked well for me, so no worries there. What can i say, i'm very happy with my new phone.:):):)

I like it a lot. First phone I am not upgrading after the first year. Only gripe is the battery life deterioration since KitKat, not great looking icon set and poor focusing in low light videos. And don't get me wrong, I'd get a G3 which looks like a great phone, if I seriously disliked something.

How much battery life deterioation? Battery life is big selling point for me for G2.

I heard you can change the icons if you don't like them, even make them look like those nice ones iPhone has. That true?

One I forgot to add in my previous post, when I have my bluetooth on my Text notification only goes off in my ear and not on the phone, like my email or any other notifications do. The others go off on phone and in ear. But if my bluetooth is not in my ear I don't know I got a text.

Isn't there a notification light that goes on for texts so you'd know that way?

About battery life, I can't reliably finish the day without a top up with medium work day use. Before the upgrade that was not a problem. With light use like when I am on holiday then it's fine.

The icons don't bother me much so I've not looked into customisation.

Wow. That's not great. I was in a Verizon store this evening and the salesman there was telling me he gets lots of battery life complaints about the G2 and G3, but who knows what his motivations are?

I thought battery life was supposed to be one of the great strengths of the G2, and a major reason I'm considering it over the iphone 6. If I couldn't get through a day of heavy use with it, I'd be annoyed. Even the iphone 6 may offer me that.

Anyone else on G2 battery life issues?

I too would like to know if a factory reset would bring back some battery life. I'm just over a full year of service with my phone and have also noticed a significant decrease in battery life. At first, I would usually end the day with 60+% left, now I end up less than 20%, with no changes in use.

Don't get me wrong, still very happy with this phone and am not looking for a replacement, just wish the battery life was like 'the good ole days'. Im sure that 360+ daily charges/discharges have taken it's toll on the battery.

If someone who actually performs(ed) a reset and saw a difference (or not), please let the rest of us know.
