How to print from Android

I have set up my windows 7 laptop and my nexus 7 tablet so that I can send a print job from the tablet to my "classic" printer.
If I tell the tablet to print the Google cloud test page, it works fine.
If I try to print any other page; I get a display window with some options, including "Print". I hit print and it says it is doing it, but the printer stays silent!

Your printer has to be on your network, either because it's connected to the router (Ethernet or wifi) or because it's vonnected to a computer that's connected to the network, and it's set to be shared.

I don't know how you're connecting to the cloud, but I use Cloud Print It takes a couple of minutes to set up and prints anything I throw it from my phone. Anything that can be shared will include Cloud Print as one of the things to share with, and sharing with it prints the document, SMS, email, whatever.

Hi

I have been happily printing from my Nexus 7 to my Canon MG 4250 printer using Cloud Print for some time now. But today every item I have sent to the printer only gets as far as the queue and then a message informs me either "printer off-line" or "cloud print not available". The printer, router and tablet are wi-fi connected. It's driving me mad! Any thoughts gratefully received. Thanks.

Did you set the printer up with a computer? If so, maybe that computer needs to be on

Once set up for cloud print - which you must have successfully done in the past; At the moment you request a print via "CloudPrint" you must have the printer turned on and connected to a Pc via a USB cable. In addition you must have the PC on and have Google Chrome selected. The tablet you are requesting a print from may also ask you to select your desired printer from a list. On my system at least printing will still not commence until the PC displays a window where you get to see a rough representation of the item you are to print. If you are satisfied with that; click "Print" and away it will go. (subject to ink & paper being ok)

My printer is wireless and connected directly to my home network. I have it set up on Google as a Cloud Print Printer and also on HP through the eprint service. Never have any problems printing from my tablet, my phone or my desktop at work. I have found that sometimes using cloudprint I have issues with photos, but the HP ePrint app does those well. I would use the ePrint app exclusively, but some apps don't recognize it as a print redirecter, where almost everything recognizes CloudPrint. I also have Printer Share installed and it works well also.

Good Morning Dave,
You need to isolate the problem. It might be with the WiFI, the Printer or the tablet. Find a way of testing each. e.g. request a print from a different computer (set up for "Cloud Print") If you are happy that the WIFI is okay on both computers and you find it will print from the secondary computer; then the fault is with the settings on the primary computer.

Well, problem solved! In a last ditch attempt to get back online I deregistered the printer from Cloud Print then re-registered it. The printer clattered back to life, much to my relief. I still don't know what caused it to go offline in the first place. Anyway, thanks to those of you who were kind enough to try and help me.
