I'm close, real close to going all in on the note 3. I just need that little push.

What is it that you love about the note 3 ??

If your life depended on getting an iPhone user to drop the apple and pick up the Note 3, what would you say ?

You know it's pretty hard talking sense into an iPhone user :p Seriously, most of them are loyal to a fault and for no good reason actually. All of my sisters have them and I was telling them about using the pen to snip a pic and send it and one was saying, "hey, I can just do this screen print thing and send it". I'm like, 'really"? (They thought it was so slick). Every phone can do that. Then I showed them how I can do a screen print and then draw on the thing. That shut them up pretty quick. Sure, the iPhone works well for what it does and it's nice looking but there is nothing about it that is cutting edge any more and there are no "wow" factors like I showed them with the Note 3 (split screen, air command, annotating backs of pictures, Group Play, and many others). With the iPhone, you get a well made device that runs apps well. You do NOT get a device that has capabilities outside the apps you have on it (stylus, true multi-tasking, writing on the screen, split views, using multiple apps on the screen at the same time and the amazing pen window. THOSE are "wow" factors that we are used to with Apple and which Samsung now delivers. And last but not least; there is no point in even doing that on an iPhone because it is to freaking small for it to even be worth the effort.

The only people who really should stick with iPhones are those that only want a device for texting and talking and using the apps that comes on it. Period. Oh and those that just can't figure out smart phones gravitate toward the iPhone as well.

If you use facetime or imessage (whatever the heck the proprietary messaging function is, that allows sending of full HD pics/vids to other apple devices), I'd hold off, as that is something that Apple actually does very well and the closest Android function, to being able to send full HD pics/vids (without decompressing to HD on the other end) is sending via dropbox.

That said, if you don't use either, it really will depend on your need to have the "latest and greatest" or "future proof" device.

The LG G3 announcement is 1 week away, and I think it's definitely worthy of at least taking a look at, based on all the rumored specs. Screen is only .2mm smaller, but the overall form factor is rumored to be smaller than the Note 3 (e.g. much smaller bezels, which LG has been the best at accomplishing).

Also, the Note 4 rumors are starting to pick up and projected release would be around the end of October/beginning of November. IMO, it's close enough that should the Note 4 underwhelm some people, you should still be able to pick up a Note 3 (which will still be a great phone) for much less than you would at the current moment.

Samsung Phones can use ChatOn, which while not as pretty works just as well as iMessage and FaceTime between Galaxy S/Note devices.

The Chat is reliable and allows you to send anything over, with Read status in the Chat. The VoIP and Video Calling are first rate and also work properly with BT headsets. It integrates with other stock apps on the device, like the camera.

I honestly don't see a reason not to use it if you know people who use Samsung devices, even if the UI isn't first rate (a lot better than it was on release, though!). It also runs on iOS.

Hangouts is another option, but no VoIP on Android and requires a Google+ social profile on iOS.

And it's a bit of a better experience sharing with OneDrive compared to Dropbox given their recent updates which focused on making sharing better in their mobile apps.

The G3 is at best a modest upgrade over the G2. So I'd also tell anyone looking for a device to seriously consider the G2 because LG phones deprecate in value much faster than Apple > Samsung > HTC devices and I've seen mint condition G2s selling on CL (Clean IMEI/ESNs, I check them and the sellers were quite willing to give up that info) for $150-200.

Saving potentially $4-500 is more than worth the modest upgrades in the G3. Just put a thin case (like the Spiegel case I have for my Note 3) on the G2 and you're G2G.

If LG is even decently intelligent as a corporation, much of the Software changes the G3 showcases will be backported to the G2 (Samsung and HTC already routinely do this, the M7 already has Sense 6 and I reckon next major update the S4 and Note 3 will get the new TouchWiz) because in order to excel in the smartphone market it's pretty clear that you *still* have to sell your older devices to those people that aren't shelling out the top dollars for your latest offerings.

This is why Samsung has been so successful. It isn't just about their marketing, but also their ability to still sell a metric ton of Last-Gen Model devices after they release a new phone that is still selling as a higher pace than the last gen did on release. Apple also does this.

5.5 inch QHD (4k) display w/ removable battery and 32gb internal storage and 3gb RAM is a "minor" upgrade from the G2?

Is the word minor even in my post? And in quotes, no less. Two times I said modest. 0 times I said minor. READ.

That screen resolution is wildly overrated. As is the removeable battery with the battery life these phones (G2/Note 3) get. I have a second battery for my Note 3:

I've used it 0 times. It's in a box, in the closet. Waste of money.

The G2s here have 32 GB Storage and 3GB RAM. With that much storage most people couldn't care less about an SD card. The camera focuses slower but with the exact same sensor the G2 should be able to reach almost equivalent quality with a Camera SW/FW update.

It's at best a modest upgrade. Certainly an upgrade but not worth what they're selling it for if you're coming from a G2 or Note 3.

The S5 (compared to S4) or M8 (compared to M7) was a much bigger upgrade. Than this G3 is compared to its predecessor.

High PPI is a bad selling point in the age of 400+ PPI displays. Really, they only did that cause techies and tech blogs go gaga over numbers.

RELAX!...I mis-spoke. "Modest" was the term you used. And where did I say that it's worth an upgrade "coming" from a G2 or Note 3. If you look at the OP's signature, it clearly states the current phone being used "Optimus G Pro".

I'm a die-hard Note series fan, but just giving some input to people who are considering the Note 3, but might also take into consideration the overall size. The G3 is significantly smaller in physical dimensions than the Note 3 (or the Note 2), but if they are looking for a 5.5 inch screen or more, but a smaller physical form factor. The G3 will be the best screen to bezel ratio on the market.

I said, that the G2 has to be a consideration because the Specs are still practically current and the prices on those have dropped like a rock.

If you think the G3 is worth a 250-400 Premium over a practically mint condition G2 then get it. Otherwise, the G2 should be a consideration - especially if the Note 3 is also a consideration.

I don't dislike LG, I'm ever recommending their prior flagship, in the Note 3 forum mind you! As a Note 3 owner... I'm trying to help the OP get the best bang for their buck.

This is my opinion: I don't think the G3 is worth what they're selling it for when you can save a huge chunk of cash by going for a G2 instead.

The G2 was only released in September, not long before the Note 3.

I'm not even sure why LG even bothered to release a refresh so early, unless of course they are moving their timetables up (at that point either a fast release or a huge lag would be needed, and they likely went for the quick succession instead).

I generally think the G3 is a good phone. Personally I felt the itch but it's going to be a month+ before this thing hits Verizon and TBQH, I don't want a phone that drops in value as quickly as LG's handsets. Maybe the G3 will change that, but I'm don't play roulette with my cash.

You didn't say that. You said:

And the OP is not coming from a G2 or a Note 3, so that point really had no significance to providing the OP with options on whether to go with a Note 3 or not. If someone is coming from an older generation phone, the Note 3 is still an extremely good choice, but the G3 does have it beat in certain categories.

You did not read my posts and understand the context. Stop trying to win and read.

You cut one sentence out of a post and didn't even read the first sentence and understand what it obviously meant:

Try harder.

This habit people have of cutting out fragments of sentences or quoting single sentences in isolation and ignoring context is getting really annoying.

I'm not. My focus is on providing options to the OP. And if people are looking for a bigger screen, the G3 wins over the G2 and is overall smaller physically than the Note 3. It's not my choice, but the OP should understand all the viable options.

And, the OP might be more interested in having expandable microSD, of course, depending on which provider they have...(for example, the Sprint G2 didn't have a microSD slot).

Look, this isn't about you. It's about providing options, so please get off your high horse.

Twice you've twisted my words while driving your opinion. Have some intellectual honesty before telling me to get off of my high horse. Nothing about my posts was inaccurate or hostile.

The only thing odd is you switching words around and quoting fragments in isolation to validate your opinion, which i frankly don't care that much about.

I only care about your [miraculously] bastardized interpretation of what I posted in the thread.

Someone recommended the G3. I said also consider the G2 and gave a pretty logical rationale. You seem to have lost it after that.

And i never said the Note 3 was better than the G3 so I'm not sure why you had to tell me the G3 is better in some ways. That seemed oddly out of place.

I gave the OP the link to a great review for this phone as a referential starting point. All you've done was misquote and spin the words of others. How honorable.

Have a nice day.

Edit: typos

To be fair, you started the yelling with the "READ" comment (FYI - all caps depicts yelling), so let's not twist who started attacking who. I mentioned the G3 and right away, you went in for the attack.

Now, getting back to reality for the OP (who is the primary one looking for information). Here are the valid choices:

Note 3 - Excellent phone, 5.7 screen, still valid choice right now.
G2 - Excellent phone, 5.2 screen, smaller overall form factor
G3 - Will be an excellent phone, 5.5 screen, smaller form factor than Note 3, but slightly larger than G2

After you blatantly misquoted me.

Revisionist history, much?

The word you used was emphasized and didn't even appear in my post.

Sorry. Not buying it and don't care.

I consider the discussion we had over at this point. No hard feelings.

And I owned up to that by saying I mis-spoke. And I formed a question, to ask why you thought that way, so I wasn't attacking, just asking. Indicating "minor" vs. "modest" was my mistake, but at least I owned up to that and admitted.

Before quoting a sentence fragment completely out of context to tell me I meant something I obviously wasn't saying?

like I said. Conversation over.

Agreed. I apologize, I apologize, I apologize...so sorry I hurt your feelings and mis-quoted you. That was not my intent. Not sure how much more I can tell you, to make you buy into what I'm saying.

My intent was not to mis-represent what you meant, just to steer the conversation as to what options the OP has available and if the Note 3 is a worthy upgrade. Hope that is enough for you because I've been here way too long on these forums and have developed enough of a reputation of trying to help out. As a former Guide on here, again, I apologize if you felt attacked.

Back to the main topic, for the OP, if you don't necessarily "need" to upgrade right now, there were Phandroid articles posted mentioning a LG G Flex 2 and LG Vu successor, if you want to wait it out to see what those look like. There's also the Note 4 that is picking up in the rumor mill.

Bottom line...As of right now, the Note 3 is a fantastic option, however there are many other very valid options out there that provide just as good an experience. It will all come down to what is most pertinent to you.

I'm close, real close to going all in on the note 3. I just need that little push.

What is it that you love about the note 3 ??

If your life depended on getting an iPhone user to drop the apple and pick up the Note 3, what would you say ?

Iphone sucks! Why would you want a Iphone 5s!? If you want another Iphone 4s then be my guess! That's the reason I switch from my 4s to Note 3. The Iphone 5 was a big disappointment. I'm loving my android Note 3. It has more features, it's faster, and it's a lot BIGGER! :)

It's size and it's s pen. It is such a versatile phone. I am 62 and my eyesight isn't the best but I can, if I have to read my display without reading glasses. And then I can do so much. I probably haven't learned half the things I could do with it yet.
