Root Ringtone will not copy into System Ringtone folder.

I have several MP3 ringtones that I downloaded on my sd card and then with RomToolBox copied and pasted them in the System Ringtones.
The ringtones work off my sd card but will not hold as a saved ringtone for a contact; at some point, the ringtones "Defaults" back.
All the other ringtones were copy and pasted over to System and work fine.
So, it's not that it doesn't work, it's that it won't copy to System; just keeps going around in circles.
Here's what I tried. It was originally 256kb and reduced several times down to 71kb; still no go. Then I changed the format from MP3 to Ogg, still no go.

Any ideas
Thanks

When the phone starts, the Media Scan picks up all the ringtones on the phone and the external SD card. Those are what show up as ringtones. The first thing I'd suspect is a bad SD card. (Ringtones don't have to be in internal storage to work, or to be used as individual contact ringtones.) As far as why that particular one won't copy to the internal Ringtones folder - someone has to have the phone in hand to determine the problem. Anything else is guesswork. (By "System Ringtones", I hope you don't mean in the /system folder or one of its subfolders. Ringtones are usually in the internal SD card (the "emulated" one) in a Samsung, or in older environments, in internal user storage.
