Help Misunderstanding about the storage system...

I don't understand why the device memory is limited to 2GB whenever every app is installed there first. The only reason I am able to still have most of my games is due to my SD card. Some games can't even be moved to the SD Card! On the other hand, the USB storage has 11GB which is used for pictures and stuff, but I won't even be using half of that just for that particular reason.. Then I have an 8GB SD Card, but only some games and apps are able to be moved to that. So my problem is that their are certain apps and games I want to download, but I keep running into my storage being low. If rooting is the only way to fix this, then I may consider that, because this is ridiculous..

Welcome to the forums!

Yeah, you got it.

On later versions of Android, and it still depends on the model somewhat, the /data area where apps and app data go are the same and shared with the internal storage (often called the internal SD card).

You can get the real lowdown on your storage by getting the Terminal Emulator app and giving the df (disk free) command.

Mine looks like this -

You'll have to check in our root forum for your phone, each model's ability to deal with the storage issue does vary somewhat.
