Root [Virgin Mobile] List of Android 4.4.2 d2spr/d2lte Nightlies [All Compatible With d2vmu] **New Nightlies Available

I wouldn't think so. They're usually 150+MB. Something could've gone wrong with the download. Which nightly are you trying to use?

One of the downloads in this post is not compatible with the phone listed, because I flashed them in the order indicated at the bottom, Modem, ROM, Gapps, APN Fix and hard bricked the S-3 i was going to switch my service to. Now the lights don't even come on! Thanks for that...

I've tried almost all of the ROMs in this post with no problems. I would try to pull your battery, hold the power button for 30 seconds, release it, replace the battery, and try to boot to recovery by holding volume up, home and power.

I tried holding the power w/out batt. then replacing. It does nothing. Right after this happened phone wouldn't boot and lights didn't even come one, and when plugging into computer the pc would say drivers couldn't be installed. Earlier, the red light came on for like 20 sec. maybe then went off and computer never even recognized it period. A friend told me there was prog. called android commander maybe it was that will push to a phone in this jacked up condition...

Did your phone have 4.3 in it before you rooted it? I only ask that because 4.3 comes with Knox. I'm just trying to figure out what would've caused the hard brick. I flashed every ROM using my phone before I add them to the list. The only thing I could think of would be the modem .zip. Maybe it doesn't react well with Knox.

I think you are the problem, not what u flashed...clearly you did something wrong and/or overlooked something major.... my basis for saying this is that u think u can "somehow push" some crappy useless app to a phone that wont boot...and what exactly would you do with this "android commander" once u "pushed" it?? Your friend is just as clueless if that was his advice after u told him your problem. Do more reading.. make sure you know what your doing before changing OS on your phone and then blaming the community for your mistake.

Now. I'm wondering. My nightly I downloaded was a few kilobytes... Is this correct for a nightly.
You downloaded the md5 sum file. There are two files for each date...the rom file and the md5 sum check file. Make sure the file you download is the larger sized one... md5 sum check is used to make sure the file you download is complete and error free... usually people with inconsistent internet connectoin have the majority of issues with a "bad download"

Im sorry. You did something wrong. I've tried all these Roms and all of them work. Plz make sure you know what you're doing.. Try to press vol up + home + power button to get into recovery, (if you have a custom recovery). I "thought" I bricked my phone twice but realized that I was able to get into recovery... And we can't stress this enough.. You cannot blame anyone (mostly devs) that they bricked your phone. You are fully responsible for bricking your phone.

Just added the Dirty Unicorns ROM by Team Dirt to the list. It's based off the Omni ROM. The link I provided has the 5/22 build. Be sure to click on the first link that begins with 'du-d2lte'. Sorry if it's confusing. It's the only link I could find for the Dirty Unicorns d2lte ROM. The info link does not contain the link to the ROM. I just wanted you to be able to see what the ROM contains.

I have to say, it's smooth, fast, and has loads of features. It's what I'm running on my phone right now and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I think my favorite feature of this ROM is how Privacy Mode and App Ops are integrated with each other. I have Privacy Mode set as default. If you click on the Privacy Mode icon in the Notification Tray, it opens up App Ops. Personally, I think that is so nice.

I highly suggest checking it out. Well, check out every ROM on the list. That's what it's there for. I would've never thought my journey to find Android 4.4.2 ROMs for our phone would've yielded so many options. There are actually many more that I haven't put on the last, but I won't add them unless I've tried them first.

Or the messenger. I'm just the messenger connecting the dev to the user. I've done my best to be thorough and diligent with everything on this list. I've personally used it all on my phone. I refuse to add something to this list that I haven't used. My goal is to provide options and to make it as easy as possible to find, flash, and use each of these ROMs.

I know what I'm doing. But unfortunately, not every Virgin Mobile GS3 is the same. When I got mine, it had 4.1.2 pre-installed, but now 4.3 is pre-installed. There are also different modems. I've done my best to provide instructions for what to do in how to get the ROMs to work with each Android version and each modem. I would never intentionally do anything to cause you to brick your phone. I actually bricked my phone when I first tried to root it. It took me hours to get it to work again, so I definitely know the frustration.

All I can suggest is to not be hasty. Do research. Sit down and read everything there is about rooting, flashing, and customizing your phone before you do it. Get to know your Android version and your modem. If you're not confident, do nothing. Either way, make sure you enjoy your phone.

the only one that you should thank is yourself and your hands for messing with your phone, the dev didn't put a gun to your head and make you flash, you did it out of will; but one thing, di your phone have the knox bootloader, what was the exact pacage you flashed, and did you flash it with odin? you should know roting is risky, but with knox and the flashing of kernels and the mix of steps that need to be done to make things work successfully, you could have slipped up, you should've researched about what you are flashing before you did it, maybe you tripped knox, I don't know, but this is your fault, no one elses!

Hey y'all... first of all, thank you OP for the concise list of ROMs available for the SG3... it was a world of help when I first got my VM device three days ago. Part of me thinks I'm a rooting/roming veteran but with each device comes inherent nuances that the previous device didn't... so here's my lone question. Which rom provides the best SIGNAL and TETHERING...? I'm on AOKP now (and love it!!!) on an MK5 device but my signal is altogether crap... I've flashed the data/SMS fix but still getting no better signal. Suggestions, ROM experience sharing and winning lottery ticket numbers are all encouraged. :)

Unfortunately, ROMs don't affect signal. They're just the operating systems with different settings per system. What I understand is there different factors that contribute to signal such as modem, APN settings, and PRL. If you have the MK5 modem, I'd stay with that. Most of all because of you have MK5, you probably have Knox on your phone. If you change your modem, there's a good chance Knox might cause your phone to brick.

I posted 2 APN settings fixes to the list. APN settings control how your phone connects to data. Personally, I prefer the first one, even though it is the older one. I could be wrong, but it seems to contain the PRL for Sprint. PRL stands for priority roaming line. It's basically a number. And the number determines how strong or weak the signal is. Even though Virgin Mobile uses Sprint towers, our signal will be weaker because of our PRL. When I had the HTC Evo V, back in the day, I was able to change the PRL number. It doesn't seem so easy with the GS3. Using the first APN settings fix, my phone is telling me I'm using Sprint instead of Virgin Mobile. Plus I have noticed a signal boost. I've noticed I get LTE more often. I live in Minneapolis, which has an awesome coverage zone for LTE. In that sense, your coverage zone also determines your signal. So unfortunately, your signal is relative based on different factors. But I'm just telling you my answer from my experience.

As for tethering, try PdaNet. For USB tethering, you have to download the program on your computer also. Wifi tethering works great too. I've used PdaNet for years. Best thing about it, it doesn't matter if you're rooted.

I agree with most of this with the exception of ROMs not affecting signal. AOSP-based ROMs use a different RIL than the TouchWiz ROMs. It's been my experience that AOSP-based ROMs have more difficulty maintaining a solid connection in a low-signal area than the TouchWiz-based ROMs. While this doesn't affect actual signal strength, it does affect the user's perception of signal.

I don't think it would make really a difference either way just because we're on Virgin Mobile and have no roaming. Personally, I've had bad signal in low signal areas whether or not I was using a TouchWiz ROM. I went to a friend's cabin on a lake last weekend and where I usually wouldn't have signal, I actually did. And I'm using a AOSP ROM. When I didn't have signal, I was using a TouchWiz ROM. So, I think it's really just subjective.
