Help Battery Usage Status

Currently when I check my battery usage status, it is showing Android System 24%, Screen 18%, Android OS 12% and then the rest. Is this normal? I thought the screen should be the highest user of the battery?

What can I do to lower the Android System usage?

I've already using Battery Guru, uninstalled all the unnecessary apps, wifi off, brightness on auto... etc.

The battery doesn't seem to drain very quickly but I know it can be impproved even further.

That is a normal ratio of percentages.... don't get overly concerned about the percents if that is all that is going on.

Does your battery give you a full day of service with everything running?

I turn off data, sync, gps, wifi, bluetooth on my phone when I put it to sleep. do that extends the battery life a huge amount. But then, I don't need alerts for email, etc...

Read the other battery issue threads, there is a lot you can do, you do not say which carrier you have.... always state that or put it in your signature.
read this on my battery setup.

* Battery Life my way

or this in another post here:

I suspicion your battery life issue is due to apps running you might not be aware.

Take a look at Application Manager/ALL and turn off apps you don't need. And some of the Android processes can be turned off w/o bad effects.

I have turned off the following on a Verizon phone:
Accessories, Amazon, Amazon App suite, Amazon Kindle, Amazon MP3, Appstore, Audible, BlurbCheckout, Bubbles, FamilyBase Companion, Flipboard, Message+, Messages, MyMagazine, NFL Mobile, Picasa Uploader, S Health, Smart Remote, Travel Wallpaper, Verizon Support & Protection (McAfee), VZ Navigator (pay for fee Navigation.... Google maps is free)

Google branded:

Calendar Sync, Contacts Sync, Play Games, Play Movies & TV, Play Music, Play Newstand, Hangouts, Isis Mobile Wallet

After I trimmed all that fat off the phone, the battery drain immediately improved a lot. Even with GPS and DATA left on.

In addition, I manually turn off GPS, Data, Sync, WiFi, and Bluetooth before I close the Lockscreen. For me, I have no need for any background internet traffic with the phone "hung up" and idle. I only read emails on the home desktop PC.

I am experiencing 3 full days minimum between charges, and once it went 5 days before I "caved in" and put it on the "brand new" Qi Wireless charger to see if it would work.

The phone and messaging work just fine with data turned off.
I use the GoSMS Pro message app.

I was told the screen should be the main battery killer. I think in the past month it was but when I checked the battery status today the android system was high so I was wondering if it's something that I've changed that's caused this. I updated the latest firmware the other day so I wanted to know if this would improve or kill the battery life.

If i turn all the wifi, data, etc. off during sleep I can get around 1.5 days.

I live in Hong Kong and my carrier is 123.

Anyway thanks for your tips. Will see if it improves the battery life even further.

Depending on your operating style, the screen could very well be the highest user of battery life. At times on my phone it is also. My usage style varies from no internet use on some days which results in the screen being very low, to a day like last Tuesday when I was spending hours up on hours in doctor waiting rooms while the wife was being inspected for future cataract surgery... bored to tears, I used a lot of screen time and DATA as the only WiFi was locked down tight.

It is hard to make a statement that a specific feature is always going to be the highest consumer of battery power. Our lifestyles are so different. I am not into video games and multi-media stuff. I read a lot of technical newsletter, read a lot of forums of which I am a moderator of one. That takes a lot of DATA, but not much else.

I rarely turn on Sync as I never read email or use online calendars or need to set appointments with anyone. I am retired from the world of pagers and appointment calendars thank goodness. 40 years of that life is enough.

I have a co-worker who is addicted to his Galaxy S4 and multi-media. He goes through a fully charged battery in about 6 hours.

I have data on, sync on(for certain apps) but leave wifi, gps, and BT off unless i need them. I do a lot of facebook, emails, texting and games, and am getting a solid seven hours of screen on time.

Better life than my wife's iphone 5s! I'm happy with it.

My stats show screen at roughly 38% and system at 18% or so. No heating, and things are smooth!

Ive had mine 2 weeks and I was using 2 x batteries every day from 100% to shut down. Each battery lasting 6/7 hours. All apps disabled and app killer and Battery monitor was installed.....still no good. Also experiencing very hot screen at periods throughout the day.
Yesterday I downloaded " Juicedefender " from play store and my phone is currently sitting at 27% and has been in use now for the last 15 hours.... A dramatic improvement with one app.....Very happy now. Highly recommended.

Battery Doctor,
Data, Sync, WiFi, bluetooth turned OFF when not using phone.

Light surfing on the web, dozen phone calls, one 4.5 hours long.

Couple of Navigation trips for half hour or so.

3 Days on charge with a lot of juice left ~47%

see screenshot.

I have included a link to a photoshop slideshow for the apps on my phone. It took 15 screenshots to capture them all. I am not about to try and type them all up.

Nothing special. all the Google stuff is running as of now. I have just repaired a boo boo that stopped the Play Store from working. In trying to do that, I turned all of the Google stuff 'back ON' because it had been off before. After a few days, if all goes well, I will again turn off the things I won't be using. Hangouts for one. I've no use for it at all.

Games, sports, etc.... have no use for those either.

but as those screen shots show, the current battery status is 74% at about 2:30 PM with a fairly heavy day of use backing up with Kies 3.0, taking a lot of screen shots so that I know how the phone is configured for future use.

Phone calls, SMS msgs, surfing, Play Store use trying to find the "perfect GPS app that gives your current location".... I tried a lot and uninstalled them immediately before I found one that works well enough for me.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abracadabrapps.addressfinderfree

I needed this because I work for the highway department and need to document the exact address of bad roads, bridges, culverts, erosion, etc.... and when you are working in the wide open spaces of ranching country..... street signs and mailboxes just don't exist.
