PlayfulGod posted an app to root the MetroPCS/Tmobile LG Optimus F3 and F6, it works on the Virgin Mobile/Sprint/Boost Mobile version of the phone as well.

Post any problems with the app in this thread if you have a Virgin Mobile/Sprint/Boost Mobile F3, not in the MetroPCS/T-Mobile forum. Thank you.

Link: http://androidforums.com/metropcs-t...things-root/844417-app-root-saferoot-app.html Thank PlayfulGod not me.

Although I am the OP, I don't have this phone so I do not know how the phone works (except unbricking) nor how the root works. PlayfulGod would best know how it works.

If the app fails, you can try the PC version here:
[ROOT] Saferoot: Root for VRUEMJ7, MK2, and Android 4.3 - xda-developers be sure to thank him if you have an xda account :)

I managed to unroot and reroot on v6 with it.

So it has an option to UNroot?

Wondering if that means if Virgin Mobile put out an update I could "UNroot" in order to put everything back to "normal" so the update would run.
(Still hoping a miracle occurs and VM puts out the KitKat update for the F3 like they are for the Samsung Galaxy 3.)

SuperSU has a better unroot than this app

    The ability to:
    Remove bloatware
    Flash a kernel
    Flash a ROM
    Flash a recovery
    Install apps that require root
You forgot the most important one (at least from my perspective): the ability to install Link2SD, which allows you to install as many apps as you want by moving them to the external SD card.

This method will no longer work with the new update. Your question will be answered in another forum thread soon. Hang tight. You can root it if you can wait. Otherwise to downgrade just follow the unbrick guide at the top of this forum.
Thank you for replying. If possible, do post once the rooting method exists for the new update. I'll also post if I can find any. Thanks :)

Towel Root works to root the new zv7 update. You will need to download superuser and a busybox installer both from playstore. Google towel root apk.

i still have v6 on my f3... haven't rooted this phone yet... was waiting for one button app type deal...

    my questions...

    1. is the ota v7 update pushed onto the phone by vw? or will it give me the option to say yes or no to the upgrade?

    2. is there a good (and stable!) recovery program for the f3? all my experience is with clockworkmod and the older elite.

    thanks.
