4.4.2 extended my battery life

I was just wondering, had anyone gotten much much better battery life since updating to 4.4.2? It's really been amazing for me and now when I'm laying on the couch watching TV late at night, I'm not worried about falling asleep before I got a chance to plug my phone in for the night.

It's just really been night and day for me so I wonder if it fixed some runaway app or what. Anyway, I'm on Verizon, stock, non-rooted. (that little bump in battery towards the end is when I plugged the phone in on my way to work)

I haven't really noticed much difference. I also use juice defender so by the end of the day i can be as low as 30 depending on my use and area i am with the signal strength. Overall i am getting battery for what i need and better than what i had on jelly bean. Much better than my girlfriends iPhone 5c which gets charged 3 times a day

Stand by time has definitely increased, IMO , it seems the phone gets into Deep Sleep very easily and doesn't get woken up as much as before by background processes.

There are days when I walk out the house at like 9am with 100%, then I use my S4 on and off throughout the day, and by the time I get back at around 9pm, the phone is still at around 45-50%.
On the other hand, if used heavily, the phone lasts shorter than it did in 4.2.2 and 4.3, the phone seems to be using more resources when in use in KitKat.

I was going to say the same thing. I just upgraded to KK a few days ago. I'm pleased with this update and glade I didn't run into some of the problems others have reported. Also, I can still move apps to SD card with no problem. (One of the reasons I didn't want to upgrade to KK)

Battery life is awful on my s4 hope there is an update out soon to fix this.

You should post your settings, or at least tell us what phone you had previously to compare the S4 to. The S4, that I've had for less than a month now is hands down the best battery life of any smartphone I've ever owned. I haven't even turned on Juice Defender Ultimate on my S4, don't need it. I've never come close to not getting through a day on a charge. On previous phones, I was constantly plugging in. I left my S4 off charger last night, and woke up to 84% battery this AM. Granted, I did charge it back to about 91% yesterday evening. But I've never come close to running my S4 down. Mine is running 4.4.2, and always has as I just got it. Even my S3 was a bigger battery hog than my S4.

I've sat and played a game for an hour, and still used only about 12% of my battery. On my old LG, I would have drained the battery to less than 20% remaining if I played a game for an hour! I kept 3 extra batteries on hand with that old LG!

It looks as though zebug was disconnected from any network for nearly half of the time, (possibly Flight Mode), and received about a 10% charge during that period.

Below is an average battery usage during a work day on 4.4.2. However it is running a de-bloated ROM, sans cr*pware, with Wi-Fi on, "Always". Location Mode = "High accuracy", and "Location Reporting/History", off. No Google Now or Google+ enabled. This is the stock battery, not an extended one, and I usually get between 24 -> 30 hours of normal usage, (allows for emergencies). Running apps = 14 roughly, (Settings, AirDroid, Google Search, Handcent SMS, Poweramp, Clean Master, Viber, ViPER4Android FX, com.qualcomm.qcriln, Google Services, Google Services, com.sec.phone, Nova Launcher, SwiftKey with 13 Cached services) + News, local Weather and Calendar, updated, widgets.

This is a typical evening and overnight usage..
