Help How to DISABLE apps not uninstall

Most procedures refer to uninstalling an app altogether. The following procedure claims to allow for disabling: Apps screen > touch 3 dots in right corner > select uninstall/disable apps > click on "-" sign for desired app.
However, I only get an option to uninstall no disable?

It goes through the "Uninstall Procedure" which just removes all updates to the app if any.

The app is then put into a Holding Pen for "Disabled Apps" and it will not run and take up memory space anymore. In Application Manager, you can look at Disabled Apps and restore them if you need to.

This is for apps that came on the ROM in your phone... IF you downloaded an app, it will indeed uninstall it and poof! it is gone.

IF you want to be sure to not loose any paid apps permanently, I suggest that you download Kies 3.0 and make a backup of your phone.

Here is my post on that topic:

no point in retyping it all over again

disabling bloatware does NOT uninstall anything. It simply turns the app OFF so that it will not interfere with your use of the phone.

Unless you are on Verizon, there is no point in my showing you what I turned off.

PLEASE put your carrier in your Signature line, better yet, goto your Profile and enter it there..... then we can help you better.

I am on verizon

I realize it wont uninstall, just want the bloat turned off.

Thanks!

That is easy, and I will give you my Verizon list.

I went to Settings/Applications/App....Manager/ALL

scroll the screens to the left to ALL.

Long list there, just keep going until you see the bloatware and turn each of them off.

Just remember, if it is OEM on the phone's ROM, you can turn it back on by going to the ...../App...Manager/Turned OFF screen and turn them back on.

here is my turn off list.

Take a look at Application Manager/ALL and turn off apps you don't need. And some of the Android processes can be turned off w/o bad effects.

I have turned off the following on a Verizon phone:
Accessories, Amazon, Amazon App suite, Amazon Kindle, Amazon MP3, Appstore, Audible, BlurbCheckout, Bubbles, FamilyBase Companion, Flipboard, Message+, Messages, MyMagazine, NFL Mobile, Picasa Uploader, S Health, Smart Remote, Travel Wallpaper, Verizon Support & Protection (McAfee), VZ Navigator (pay for fee Navigation.... Google maps is free)

Google branded:

Calendar Sync, Contacts Sync, Play Games, Play Movies & TV, Play Music, Play Newstand, Hangouts, Isis Mobile Wallet

I've done ALL of this and my battery still drains so fast I can watch the percentages go down! I turned everything off on my wife's S4 and that now drains even faster than my S5! I'm on Verizon, got both phones last Sunday, spent total of maybe half a day tweaking and it's a bit better but still I took it off charge today at 10:30 it's now 14.44 and it's only down to 76% which is MILES better than even yesterday. I tried to do teh exact same on the S4 but after unplugging it at 10 it was down to 75% at 12:30! WTF? I know I'm missing something but I cannot think of what it must be! ANY help will be much appreciated.
Thanks,
joela

Okay, just as an exercise to try and narrow things down a bit, would you mind installing Battery Doctor? There is a Switcher Widget that will allow you to manually turn OFF things conveniently in one place.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ijinshan.kbatterydoctor_en

Once installed and the Widgets created, use the Switcher Widget to turn OFF:
DATA, SYNC, WIFI, GPS, BLUETOOTH, VIBRATION.

Unless you have a LOT of screen ON time, the brightness won't make any difference. I have my screen set to 10 minutes so it won't go black while I am reading something. I have the Push Button programmed to instantly lock the screen. When I receive a phone call and know who it is, don't need the screen to stay on, just push the button and it goes black & does not terminate the call. Text messages still work fine with all of the above turned off.

I have the center Push Button programmed to answer/disconnect telco calls.

Once the above is done, monitor your battery percents through the day.
IF all seems to be much better, then try to isolate the culprit by turning ON each of them one at a time and monitor the battery drain again.

Why? If data and WiFi are turned OFF, then no apps can connect to the outside world and will not use up battery power. If this is proven to work, then you will know that the Firmware in the phone is okay. It is software that is bad. But which app is the culprit?

You will have to disable everything not necessary for the basic phone functions until it all works like it should.

On my phone, I traced down the errant battery villain to Amazon Suites and its' companions. I turned OFF everything with Amazon in the name.

One fell swoop, that fixed my battery power loss.
