Did you transfer the file to the miniadb folder? Is that the folder you're running your commands from?

Ok I got a folder on the c drive with everything you said to put there. After htcdev and I am pretty sure I made a back up of my stock rom because it says nandroid on my sd card I got superuser to work. I then renamed the folder on the c drive from mini-adb_vigor to miniadb_mecha and followed the instructions, everything was working fine on getting the device downgrade until I got to the part where I typed in the cmd adb reboot recovery it restarted went to 2 different pictures a green something with a device and then a device with a red triangle i pulled the battery and tried several times but I got nothing! I even unplugged it from pc and went to the white menu and tried recovery manually but nothing...

I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE YOUR HEP IT WOULD MEAN ALOT TO ME THANKS IN ADVANCE

what youre seeing there is the stock recovery. im not sure where you are in the guide, the more detail you can provide the better, and a copy/paste of your cmd window is extremely helpful to troubleshoot.

to copy from cmd:
-right click
-click mark
-highlight it all in white
-hit enter or right click again
(this is prettymuch same as when you copied your idientifier token)
-paste into your reply here

if you haev run the downgrade ruu, then that is why you no longer have a recovery, the ruu erases it. at this point you can run revolutionary.

if you have not run the downgrade ruu yet, then sounds like you did the "temporary" recovery steps when you unlocked and installed superuser. this does not permantly install a recovery. you have a couple choices:

1)just redo the htcdev unlock guide step 2 and follow the steps to permantly install recovery

or

2)when you get to the point to reboot to recovery, youll have to instead boot to bootloader and repeat the command to boot the recovery( fastboot boot recoveryimagename.img )

Ok the problem I did have you already answered someone else in a previous post THANK YOU! So I did a permanent recovery/then downgraded and got s-off through rev it asked me to install something through the internet in the cmd but I typed N and didn't receive it... After I did that I did a reboot from the white screen.

I have got s-off and I am running on an ancient rom the 1.05.0000 lol...

I did 2 backups after permanent recovery before s-off I have 2 nandroid files on my sd card
The first one I did was before I installed superuser
The second one I did I had superuser installed

The question I am asking what do i do now?

I want to return to the stock updated ICS with root and s-off how do I do that?

If you have a better Idea tell me whats the best rom to flash...

I JUST NEED TO KNOW WHAT STEPS TO DO NOW?????

I read the finishing up section several times. My questions are:

1 i did a permanent recover after htcdev do i still have a recovery amon ra?

2 after i did a permanent recover before i had s-off i did a backup of my current rom so i have a nandroid file, if i restore this nandroid rom will it take away my s-off?

3 if downgrading to get s-off did uninstall recover do i just go back to the instructions to do a permanent recover?

Thanks for the thread to get s-off it is pretty good and i appreciate it!:)

no. after running the ruu, your permanent recovery was overwritten. revolutionary can install recovery, but it sounds like there was an error during this step.

with the revolutionary s off hboot, you can simply re-install the perment recovery exactly the same as you did after htcdev unlock

fastboot flash recovery recoveryimagename.img

2 after i did a permanent recover before i had s-off i did a backup of my current rom so i have a nandroid file, if i restore this nandroid rom will it take away my s-off?
nope. revolutionarys hboot is patched to protect itself from being overwritten,so it will be there until you purposely remove it :)

3 if downgrading to get s-off did uninstall recover do i just go back to the instructions to do a permanent recover?
yup! just repeat step 2 of the htcdev guide to put the recovery back.

Thanks for the thread to get s-off it is pretty good and i appreciate it!:)
your welcome,im glad it was helpful. if you have any other questions, just holler. i try my best to peak in here daily

ok that helped alot! I ended up finishing revolutionary installing cwm, I really didn't want to because you said amon ra was better in one of the threads I think.

Ok so I flashed the nandroid file before I downgraded and got s-off, I thought I would go back to the same software and kernels android version etc but it stayed the same as it was in the downgraded rom the only thing that changed was I got apps back.

How do I get updated software/kernels/whatever like the ics or should I?

should I install a newer ver superus?

I heard of infected rom eternity is that ok?

If this were your phone and you mainly used it for tethering and for games IN YOUR OPINION how would you set it up rom kernels recovery and anything else that you would do to it for everything to work smoothly battery life etc I also want to overclock it so it can run faster???

if your nandroid was of ics,it should have restored that version,if im understanding correctly. if you remained on GB,you may have gotten your nandroids confused

either restore your ics backup,or flash a new ics rom(one is linked in the first post, but there are others)

once your rooted and have a working superuser, you can just update it from play store :)

sorry,im pretty out of touch with TB roms. been awhile since its been my daily driver.

my only advice here is be careful with the overclock. anything greater than 1.4 ghz,you will lose stability. sorry i cant be of more help as the best rom/kernel for gaming.

after using this method I cant get past the phone activation window to set usb debugging . What can I do so that I can get revolutionary to get my thunderbolt to set to s-off?

the "home" softkey should bypass the activation,as should letting it try and call and fail a couple times(3 i think).

make sure youre booting the phone with no sim card(even if the sim is inactive)

so I think I am about half done with the downgrade but I messed something up I did the first RUU and got the same code as advised and kept moving forward. I think i got down the OEM lock part and then had a problem. now the bootloader is relocked and when I look at adb devices my SN# shows up twice once saying offline and again saying device. Any help about how to fix this would be greatly appreciated Thanks

I'm not sure why you've got 2 serial numbers showing up. Typically the offline issue is fixed by simple unplug/replug,changing USB ports,or a reboot of phone and/or pc. Make sure you've got USB debug on,and fastboot unchecked, and HTC sync is disabled, along with any other programs capable of talking to the phone.

In a worse case,if you've relocked the bootloader, you can skip the first couple adb commands and just boot the phone to fastboot manually, then proceed with the directions at fastboot devices to flash the downgrade ruu.

Hope that helps :)

Thanks scotty85 for the great directions on unlocking, rooting, and getting to S-OFF state! I have installed the ICS radios/baseband, the ODEXED de-bloated ROM (v 7.02.605.10 710RD ), and OTA Killer V2. I have two questions for you..

1. Is there an update that takes the Thunderbolt to Kit Kat from ICS?

2. My main motivation for getting rooted was to find a mod that would support better battery life out of my HTC Thunderbolt. Do you have any suggestions on mods that would do this?

Thank you!

not a factory one. the highest version htc and vzw took the thunderbolt was ICS. there are likely some ports and custom roms available for JB and kit kat,but its been a long time since the TB was my daily driver so im out of touch with current roms and such.

first glance doesnt look like much going on any more, but some searching may turn up something else. heres one source for TB roms:
Thunderbolt Android Development - xda-developers

just general tips: tone down the screen brightness, minimize syncs and gps usage. with older sense phones,i also had better luck with battery life running an AOSP rom(such as cm7)

with the TB i would actually carry spare batteries and just swap them out when the phone died
