Updated my phone last night, and since then....WTH. Didnt use it much at work, naturally, but when I left work, it was holding at 97% Over the next couple hours, I had ABYSMAL 4g/wifi usage, in a area where I know they're both pretty good, and between a rough total of maybe 40 odd min of Youtube and Slacker/Pandora, I was down also to freaking 70% power. Apparently Android System is eating up a lot more juice. I reset the phone a couple times, but, what the hell is going on? That much power usage between some youtube/pandora/slacker for me should be maybe 15-18%, not 27%. Am I alone in this, or what?

KitKat has alot of bugs, the worst powerconsuming bug is the camera app. A factory reset does not help. The best is to go into app manager and manually force close the camera. If you have apps like Skype etc. that starts the camera app, the best is to uninstall it. Android has released a fix, 4.4.3, but as far as I know only availble for Nexus at this point. How long it takes for other phones depends on the carrier and what phone you have. Do not try to go back to 4.3, there is a big risk for bricking your phone.

A factory reset will not solve the power consumption caused by the camera app. Also, it does not help with another camera app since it is impossible to uninstall the stock camera app that is the one triggering the bug. Here is some info. A lot more info. is availible on the net, just google.

Interesting article I will remain on 4.1.2 and continue to use my Skype

I totally agree with you, my 4.3 was perfect and now with 4.4.2 it is a total mess. I also use Skype, but it drains the battery like pouring out a bucket of water. So does everything else also involving the camera. Worst of all, there is no way back. Hopefully 4.4.3 will be released soon FOR ALL PHONES involved.
