anyone got a project going on??

I'm just bored, surfing around looking for some info on my xt912 and the boot loader when I heard a realllly loud knock at my door at about 7:00am yesterday morning! So i grabbed my 2nd amendment (to be safe) and headed up there. Through the window I could see taillights of a truck leaving and I opened the door to find the fed ex guy just dropped of my new intercooler! Sa-weeeeet! So I brought it in my garage and went back to my room to keep searching for a US gsm carrier for my RAZR.

So today I will be making sure everything lines up and dropping the car off for the I/c piping to be done, as well as putting the final plans together for my exhaust to be done. This is the only part of the build I won't do myself. Mainly cause well, I'm not a welder lol. Everything else I did myself with the help of a few friends. Including the 5-speed conversion as well as full motor swap. Doesn't sound like much but this is only my 3rd build and my last two already had the engines and trannys that are still in them today. Unless the new owner blew up my first project. I still have my second and probably will forever, my son is 6 and hes already in love with drifting so if all goes right it will be his first drift car when he's tall enough to drive it, on the track of course. My daughter now, lmao. She's 5 and could care less. She justs wants to take daddy's truck out in the mud and play, in her pink nikes at that lol. She's my little country girl and I love it :)

So anyway I'm just curious if anyone has anything there building and would like to share stories or talk about it....have a good day guys

By the way this is a Toyota cressida with a 1jz vvti swap.

Sounds fun. Keep us posted, okay?

My only project--if you want to call it that--is keeping my battery from dying. Long story...

I've got a couple BMWs I'm building right now, they are in my profile... I am also a Toyota guy, these were my first bimmers, and they all started because of my Supra and my need for a daily driver. I've had 7 Supras, 4 mkivs, 2 mk3s and a celica supra... Hands down my favorite car, I've had one as a daily driver, one as a driver/show car, and one that was a REALLY RARE original TRD version, that my father totalled on me, lol. My current one is also a semi rare anniversary silver 97 with a solid (no targa) roof... but I've got to admit, I thoroughly enjoy the BMW builds. The e30 is bagged and clean, the blue one I originally had as an "m3 replica", complete with an M52 (m3) motor. Tore it all down as you can see to do something different, after I spent 13 months building a bullet proof turbo motor from the stock block. Its such a fun daily driver/weekend drifter. Now its just been finished, so I'm laying off the drifting for just a quick and clean, custom ride... that's why I got the newer red 325is, this thing is going to be a beast of a beater... drifting, weekend races, something just coated in plastic dip all over, making repairs easier to cover up and "paint". My supra is a monster, and I love it. Hands down, my favorite car ever. If you put a brand new Lambo in front of me or a 20 year old 1993.5 Supra in front of me, ill choose the supra every time without hesitation.

i always have projects. i drive one car but i have like a half-dozen motorcycles in my backyard in various states of disassembly. who knows when they will be complete or if they will be complete. currently got a moped for free that i just got running but it needs a lot more to be street-legal (it lacks a throttle cable, lights not working, brakes failed)

I grew up on Cape Cod, right next to Otis Air Force Base. Up until 9/11 they had an autocross track out there and an unofficial drag strip, and it was awesome. There was a guy that killed everyone in a Neon. AutoX, drag, thing was insane! If you saw a video of this thing without sound, you'd be like, wtf!? It sounded like a monster truck too. Turns out, it was HEAVILY modified, Srt Viper engine/tranny, rwd, etc. Guy "had" an actual Viper, let his daughter and her bf take it to prom. Totalled it. Well, not only did he buy it back from insurance for like $1500, he had bought his daughter a Neon brand new off the showroom for her birthday (prior to Viper accident). So, he took the car back from her on her 18th birthday. Happy Birthday baby, your 18, go buy a car! Lol. Guy spent a fortune and some serious time, built a tubular chassis, stand alone engine management, it had like a 98pt roll cage, lol. It was tubbed and ran ridiculous tires. Even had a parachute on the back. I imagine he just had it registered as a regular Neon, cuz he actually drove it to and from the events every weekend. Talk about a sleeper (from the front anyways), if you saw it from the back it would seem like just another F&F wannabe with an aluminum wing. Ill try to dig up pictures next time I go see my parents and scan them. Ever since I don't knock what anybody drives, cuz this guy and his Neon hurt my feelings many times, lol. Completely changed my mind (or actually opened them up) to sleeper cars. Shortly after I was doing repos for a guy who raced outlaw and was ranked #2 in the nation, and my girlfriend at the time was going to trade in her Focus hatchback. Instead I bought it from her, and bought a bolt in engine/tranny/drivetrain mount kit for a 302 (had access to like 15 built motors, ecus, harnesses, tranny, blowers, turbos, etc). It was still a lot of work, but I ended up with a Focus running about 700hp and was rear wheel drive. Thing was sooo much fun, and I LOVED being the guy people pulled up to and laughed at, only to watch their faces turn red when I dropped the clutch! Unfortunately it was the same year I thought the car would be an awesome toy to drift around the snow in... buzzer! Wrong! I then also learned its expensive to be a showoff and a jack@ss. My father loved it though, he got my motor for his factory five cobra...

Damn, I hate being grown up and married with kids and responsibilities!!! I wish I were 19/20 again!

I have a couple of potential projects in the driveway. I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport, a 1982 Chevrolet Camaro-Iron Duke, and a 1972 Dodge Tioga (B300...base?). No work has gone into the Camaro yet (only an oil sending unit), but both Dodges have had some work put into it. The tioga is what I want to build up though. I want to cut off anything that is RV, fabricate the rest of the cab (since removing the home from it will leave a hole in the back of the cab). From there, shorten the frame (was a 16-18 foot rv) to fit a dodge dually bed, paint it flat black, with candy red flames down the side. For the motor, it has to be a Hemi crate motor, maybe with the good ol' six pack. I may have to do some housing and mount work. Right now it has a '73 dodge 318 heavy duty motor in it, with a rebuilt holly 2 barrel. It would be amazing what something like this could be. Now that I think of it, I could probably spend less money buying and restoring an old Dreamer, and throwing a motor in it, than I would modifying a camper. Idk, maybe you car guys can throw some ideas this way. To be honest with ya, I couldn't tell if something in a car broke. I know basics and thats about it. Kinda like Richard from Fast N' Loud.

Hi there, Monsieur_E, and welcome aboard. :)

The plans for the black/candy red flames paint job sound good. Of course, you've got some work ahead before getting to that point!

We have some very knowledgeable folks around here who can probably help guide you. (And I'm not one of them!)

You and me both. :D

I have a few...

My daily driver is a 1998 Ford Contour SVT. I just bought it a few months ago and it's had some work done to it like different cams (more low end torque, less high-end hp, not real happy with that one), D2 coilovers and a limited slip. I put some new wheels on it because I really don't like the 'stanced' look but I have no good pics of the new setup yet.

I have a bunch of plans but no idea how much I'll actually accomplish, LOL.

I picked up an MR2 for a GRM Challenge car for $200. Can't wait to get it running and take it for a rip. I've never owned a rear-engined car before.

The wife has two 80's Mustangs in the garage - one is a four eyes the other is a little later. They're waiting on a drivetrain swap between the two but she broke her foot so she doesn't get to wrench at all. :p

I am predominantly a road racer whereas she drag races. I'm trying to convert her. :D
