16GB - still worth it?

I have a month to go before my Verizon phone upgrade (currently have Motorola Bionic). Considering that the only Droid Maxx now offered is a 16GB version, is it still worth it? I've looked at the Moto X (32GB version available), and the S5 and HTC One M8 both have expandable storage.

I still feel pulled by the battery life and quality build of the Maxx. I guess I'm hoping that other Maxx fans can talk me into it!

If you're a cloud junkie, then go ahead. Otherwise, its a stupid combination of 16 gig and a fat battery. If I were you, I'd either get a 32 gig version or wait until the new phones come out sometime in the near future.

Check in the stores; they may still have 32 GB versions left. FWIW, I am using 5.7 GB of storage right now. The 32 GB version has 25.48 GB available from a clean install, so that suggests that the 16 GB model would have only about 9.5 GB available after a clean install.

Again, I'd squeak by, but maybe you won't. All of my photos go to both G+ and Dropbox, so I can delete them from the phone. I can easily live with Google Play Music from the cloud - they give you up to 20,000 songs for free.

If my Maxx spit the bit today, I might be tempted by the HTC One M8, actually, just because the hardware may be more future-proof. If you can live with the Bionic for another three months past your upgrade date, I'd be willing to be that there'd be a new bunch of Droids in late August/early September. Actually, that's what I did with my Droid 3 last year - I was upgrade eligible in late June but decided to wait for a couple of months to see what the fall would bring. As soon as I heard about the close-to-stock Maxx with a 3500 maH battery in July to come out a month later, I was sure that was my phone.

Thanks for the input so far. I'm somewhat surprised that the newest flagship phones don't have a battery comparable to that of the Maxx. As far as memory goes, I do use the cloud for music, documents, and for backing up photos. I'm hoping that the rumored Moto X+1 is announced soon and that it is what I'm looking for!

EDIT: Amazon still has the 32GB Maxx! We'll see if it is still available in a month. (Unless the rumored Moto X+1 is announced in the next month and impresses me!)

16 GB is free through comcast with $200 rebate visa plus $100 verizon credit from trade up. Until June 30th.

You'd end up with a free phone and $270!

I am now the very happy owner of a 32GB Motorola Droid Maxx! A week before my upgrade date I visited Amazon.com to make sure that this phone was still available. It was just $49, so I clicked "add to cart." The site asked for my number and then processed my order!

The phone arrived two days later and I'm very pleased with it. The battery life is just as awesome as I had hoped, the storage is enough (though 16GB would have been very limiting), the screen is beautiful, and the performance is great. The Active Display, Touchless Control, camera launch gesture, and wireless charging are features that I may never be able to live without.

When the official date of my upgrade arrived I logged into the Verizon website to see if my device information had been updated. I was greeted with a message that told me I was eligible for an upgrade (even though the site already had my new Maxx listed as my device). I was given the option to choose a new device at a discounted price or to keep my "old" device (the Maxx that I had just received) and take a $10 discount per month.

So now I have a great phone, I'm saving $10 a month, and I can upgrade or transfer my upgrade if a better device comes along. Thanks/oops Amazon/Verizon!

Ehh if you make any changes in 6 months you'll regret it.
