Problem: I am not able to write data to my phone via downloads or restoring a backup (ADW EX Launcher).
How this came about:
I just updated my VM S3 using the files from the link provided in the OP with the ODEX version of stock. After I updated the binary via SuperSU, I was able to get phone connectivity to dial out.
I did notice that now it said Samsung on the lock screen so I followed the directions in post 2 from the link. What I failed to notice in that post is that the phone would also do a factory reset. Aaargh! Okay, so that's done. After I signed into Google on the phone, my apps all downloaded as I had Google back them up.
What I HAVE noticed is that I am unable to download things to my phone from Gmail or Google Drive. I just get a message "Couldn't download. Touch to retry." in Gmail. From Drive "Download from Google Drive failed. Try again later." I tried to create a backup of ADW EX Launcher just to see where the backup went on my phone and I get "Error creating backup."
I can, however, download and install apps from Google Play directly from my phone. I can connect my phone to my computer and copy files to the phone or card. For example, I have certain sounds that I like for notifications, calls, and an alarm. I couldn't save them to my phone by downloading, but I was able to save them to the microSD card and then assign them as defaults.
This was working before I updated to 4.4.2, so my assumption is that this is why I am not able to do this now. Any thoughts?
