Official MetroPCS BYOD discussion thread

yea its an lg spirit, its odd then that i get data okay but my texts just hang forever on sending until i walk outside, its pretty annoying.

good news with the t-mobiles though, can i just go into one of their stores to buy a phone on its own? all the ones online seem to require a plan, even if you just wanna buy it outright. there are some prepaid ones that have a 30 dollar card included, which i guess i could just sell on ebay or something.

just to update, i got a t-mobile phone was kinda a pain to activate because the regular *228 code does not work with it. also the old orange metropcs sims arent compatible with it, theyre cdma only. you need the new blue gsm specific one. they cost 15 bucks at the metro store, and theyll try to wrestle you into activating the new phone there for an additional $15 fee!

anyway metro support was super helpful and friendly had it up and running in no time free of charge. the only downside is that you are forced into a new contract so if you were like me and had the $55 unlimited everything plan, youre going to wind up with a $60 unlimited plan going forward. not the end of the world though.

and the new phone works great, full bars in the house whereas before i had 0-1 bar. not too shabby.

That's a new one 😅. Lmao jk good to know everything's working for you, what kind of speeds are you getting now?

data speeds are definitely slower, i got 13.5mbit down and 5mbit up w/ the new phone, going through results on my old phone it varied from 13-20mbit down and 12-19 up.

the upload speed is noticeably worse as upload and download only differed by a mbit or so on the old phone.

anyway not a big deal for me, im gonna try messing around with different networks to see if i can get it back up. i can choose between metropcs cdma, gsm, and lte.

Has anyone with a OnePlus One have any issues getting the phone set up? My SIM has not shown up in the mail so I went to a corporate store. They threw in a SIM that the phone recognized but it would not connect to any network. I tried the Metro APN and 2 different T-Mobile APNs and nothing. When I asked them to pair the SIM with the phone and then see what happens, they refused unless I paid them the ~$25. I ended up just walking out and I will try messing with it next week when my package arrives. I just wanted to see if anyone had any other experiences.

I own a OnePlus One registered , the only thing you need to do is calling Metro CS (*611 or 1-888 number) get a representative and tell him to activate your new phone with your SIM card. You have to have your OPO IMEI on hand and your SIM card number.
