So that's my list of apps that you can safely disable via the Android OS without root and most importantly without crippling your phone.

Can they be removed to free up space????? I plan to try to disable, remove and delete anything I can when mine comes today but I am on Sprint.

I'm sure that they can, if and when you have root. But as for myself, I don't plan on rooting it.

I disable everything I don't use. I even disable Google+, other Google services I don't use, all the Samsung apps it will allow, widgets I don't use...pretty much anything it will allow. I like how Jelly Bean even lets you hide icons from the application list that you don't use.

If you have root, you probably can disable system functions. With the stock AT&T OS, it's not going to let you disable something vital to the system.

Long story short, disable it unless you find a reason to turn it back on

That's not really that much compared to the total storage and I use Flipboard anyway. The ones I marked I just disabled to clear up the app listing.

I glad i did this. I was going to root the phone just to delete the bloatware but I see now that there's not much on there in terms of size which is the only real reason to delete them. The new OS allows you to hide the apps and icons so it's kind of a "see no evil, hear no evil" thing. Why bother?

Plus those disabled apps don't run as well. It's like freezing the apps like when you're rooted but does it via an internal Android API.

Disabling (or "Turning off" as it is now referred to since Android 4.3) is a good first step before deleting. Sometimes removal can have unexpected side effects. For example, I have no use for S Voice, but I found that disabling or removing it caused S Translate to stop working (which I do use).

I would be interested in doing this with my phone, mines a UK, Orange i9505 though, is this limited at at&t phones only or would it work with mine?

Am i not right in assuming that its fine disabling these but as soon as you restart your phone, they just activate and start again?

No, once turned off, they stay off until turned back on again. (Not rooted, Nova Prime launcher).
