I've had an update (144 mb) for my VM Galaxy S5 for the past couple days, it downloads, tries to install, and fails. Hooked the phone up via Kies and it says current firmware. Let me know if it installs for you guys.
Far as I know its just a hotfix for the current OS with some improvements and fix's,
Well thats what the info pop up told me when I installed it only thing I noticed was it now courses most of my apps to crash and the phone seems to drain the bat faster than before the update

i can't understand how this is supposed to be one of the more advanced or recent devices available for Android and yet Samsung is only running 4.4.2, 2 versions behind the latest....why is this?

Because they have to incorporate TouchWiz into the new version of android along with all of the samsung apps. If you wanted fast updates you should have waited for the Play Edition. Then on top of that the carrier needs to test it and then it gets released. Hopefully a lot of these issues will be resolved once "L" officially releases.
its just a update.. not a 4.4.3. i do notice my battery draining quicker.. also.. sometimes, my phone gets locked where it wont send messages.. until i turn on airplane mode.. and then back off.. then my messages will send.. and i will get any messages that were sent to me.
Finally got my phone to update, one thing I noticed is that they finally got rid of that annoying VM boot music and changed boot screen as well. Other than that I haven't noticed any other changes thus far.
