Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Hey Brain Trust (that's youse guys) - you know more than the forum for my phone ;)

I'm getting a replacement shipped to me and dread reinstalling and adjusting the settings in all my apps. Have they come up with an app (for non-rooted devices) to back up app settings yet, or is it the old DIY? I have a non-rooted Moto RAZR Maxx HD, which unfortunately does not do Helium.

Don't think i want to root it just to get Titanium, then unroot and ship it back.

Gracias.

Went to the Drive In tonight to see Transformers. What a let down. There was no real story to follow. Just repeated wrestling matches. I didn't even stay to the end as Evan fell asleep. Maybe I'll figure it out when it's on Netflix, but I'm not a fan at this point.:(

Sorry to hear that. I've loved all the TF movies. I guess I'm just a huge fanboy?

Treo, I haven't used it, but have you looked into Moto Migrate? I would imagine the new Droids have it. I have it for my Moto G but have never used it.

I don't know if it works on the Maxx, but it did the trick when I moved from my GNex to the Moto X. I was impressed by the simplicity.

Here's the best I found For Moto's site for the Maxx

What I hate about Netflix

You have to go out of your way to find out what they add and take away every month. And even when you go to the New Movies or Recently added section, that you have find also, they don't even list everything that has been added.

The 3D section. What's there is okay. But really it is kinda pathetic. As I scroll thru the 2D movies I comment how that movie has a 3D version...and that movie...and that movie...etc.

Have you seen the other TF movies? They are all like that. The first one made me nauseous. I don't know why I watched the others. I think I was sick and delirious, didn't care what was on. I think watching them made me sicker.

You couldn't pay me to watch the latest one.

Thanks all, I knew I could count on you :)

Treo, have you tried Carbon? I never had much luck with it, but it might work out for you.

:)

Carbon was renamed Helium and specifically disclaims operability with Moto devices. But I'll give it a try because I like mysteries and if it takes three hours to make it work, I'd rather do that than spend the same amount of time loading apps and settings manually :p

Treo, I haven't used it, but have you looked into Moto Migrate? I would imagine the new Droids have it. I have it for my Moto G but have never used it.

Unfortunately, Moto Migrate does not work on app data/settings, from what it says.

I don't know if it works on the Maxx, but it did the trick when I moved from my GNex to the Moto X. I was impressed by the simplicity.

But THANKS for the ideas!

Pictures Chief! I'm not a collector I just want to see the stuff :)

First of all, you folks on the east coast BE CAREFUL!

Back to DC... okay here are some...

First up are all three special collector's issues from the original trilogy. No reprints here: The Star Wars Album from 1977, Empire Strikes Back from 1980 and Return of the Jedi from 1983:

:)

And ONE of my two ""holy grail" items: this is the Star Wars Early Bird package. The movie was an unexpected success and the merchandising wasn't ready for Christmas! So Kenner sent out Early Bird Certificates, redeemable for the first four action figures to come out.

And these are they: including Luke Skywalker with the VERY rare two-piece telescoping lightsaber, indicating one of the first ones to roll off the line. Later Lukes would have a one-piece lightsaber.

The only thing I'm missing is Chewy's gun, which I just found on eBay. That will complete the set.

My other "holy grail" item I acquired at a SciFi convention in Los Angeles in 1983/84: A Revenge of the Jedi one-sheet movie poster.

The movie was originally titled that, but then Lucas changed his mind under the idea that Jedi don't take revenge. It was renamed Return of the Jedi... and suddenly these teaser posters were worthless. It's folded because that's how studios mailed them to theaters, lending to its authenticity.

Maybe one day I'll show you that one ;)

I want the albums!

Edit: I just now saw the pic. I thought you meant the soundtrack LPs.

Well, I do have not only the original double LP music soundtrack to Star Wars, but the lesser-known album "The Story of Star Wars", a narrative of the movie. It was the only way to relive the story once the movie finally left theaters, it being long years before the advent of home video.

And no, Halon my friend, you can't have them :p

Happy Birthday 'Murica. :)
Anyone have any plans? Weather is supposed to clear up for us later this morning and be quite a nice day. Not sure what we'll do. Pool, zoo, brunch? Don't know.
All I know is we're staying far, far away from the Nat'l Mall. ;)
There's a high school a few blocks from our place that's perched atop a pretty steep hill and you have a fine view of the fireworks from there should we choose that route.

Had another friend (a doctor) whose Microsoft account got hacked. I learned the coolest method of creating a nearly un-hackable password that's easy to remember! Check this method out:

Pick your favorite song. Maybe different songs for different sites. Use the first letter of each word as your password, capitalizing the first and last letters. For example, Let's use the line "Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me"

Password: AghststsawlM

Use the commas if the site will let you, and then split your birthyear with the 19 on front and the whatever on back. For example I was born in 1962. So my final password would be

19Ag,hsts,tsawlM62

Get it? Hackers look at that and see no logic or reason to it. But to you and me? It's easy as remembering a song!

:D

Okay Digital Controller, here's my other "holy grail" Star Wars collectors piece: an original movie teaser poster before Lucas changed the name! I intend to get it framed VERY soon, as the creases are becoming extremely delicate (as they would after 31 years!). Anyway, enjoy!

:)
