Vitria Update Problem

Hello, All....

I posted this on the Huawei board but got no response. I'll try for the answer here..

Have 2 Vitrias that are working well. However, about 2-3 times week the notification screen shows a download to update what appears to be the build number. The existing number ends with 132 and the update wants to go to 137.
I click OK and the program reboots the phone...downloads the file and begins install. Gets to the end of the install and says aborted. I have spoken with Huawei and taken it to Metro a few times. No one seems to have an idea. Metro tried rooting and unrooting...no help. They both even had me reset the phones, clean caches, etc.. Both phones react the same.
I'm not sure this update will do anything but would like to get rid of the nuisance of going through the exercise so often as it goes nowhere.
They both told me that my 4.1.2 will be as high as it will go. I don't really want to go into ROM updates and such. Getting too old for that.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Surprised that Metro store would actually root a phone. That is not like them at all. You can try a manual update instead of OTA. That is a possibility, however if you feel this update is super important to you i would have the ppl at the Metro Store do the manual update. Or you could ask to exchange your phone if still within the 1yr period.

Thanks for your reply..

Since the phones are working well, I don't think the update is necessary. The problem is the annoying notification 2-3 times a week that goes nowhere, but has to be dealt with in order to get rid of it for the moment.

The phones are about 9 mos old and if you think this problem might be solved by exchanging them, I have no problem with that. Do you think they will exchange them for an issue such as this?

My experience with the Metro stores has been that instead of the people listening to the complaint and understanding it, they immediately begin changing and re-programming what is not even related to the issues. On one occasion they did complete resets to no avail.

Do you think that replacing the phones might solve my problem. It's curious that both phones have this very same problem. Makes me think it's not a phone problem. I suppose they could move all the apps and data over with an exchange..

Thanks again..

An update..

I went back to the Corporate store to get the phones exchanged.

No problem with the warranty exchange....but if I wanted them immediately from Metro's stock, the charge in warranty would be $30.00 ea.
If I wanted to wait 5 days and have them order them from wherever, the charge would only be $15.00 ea.

The logic escapes me.

Update problem was really annoying, so I went back to Metro and got the two phones exchanged under my 1 year warranty.

Turned the phones on and the update message came up...clicked on it and immediately downloaded the new files and applied it to both phones.

All is well..

My nature requires me to be curious as to why neither Metro or Huawei ever heard of the problem and had no solution.
