Root [AT&T] CWM Recovery

I've tried to use the default recovery but each time it stops at "install sd card"... I've tried different sd cards with the same result. I'm not real familiar with kitkat, I don't think kk uses dalvik. And I'm not sure if it's kk or something I'm doing but when I use es file Explorer I see what appears to be to partitions... One labeled extSdCard (5.21GB/29.33GB) and one labeled 0 (1.49GB/9.72GB).

I think I found the answers we've all been looking for over at XDA.

For the time being, our bootloader is locked (that means no custom recovery). Our only option right now is Safestrap. If you're on NC1, you'll need version 3.72. Before you install it, you need to be rooted and change SELinux to permissive. Once that is done, you can successfully install Safestrap.

To flash a ROM (several are available at XDA), you need to make sure you have all necessary files on your SD card (necessary files vary, depending on the ROM, but usually include the ROM itself, the proper modules, and SuperSU, all of which are zip files). Once you have all the files on your SD card, install Safestrap, then open it and "install recovery". Reboot into Safestrap, wipe, advanced wipe, check everything except SD card, slide to confirm. Install the zips in the proper order, then reboot.

That's all folks!

Edit: I can't provide links right now because I'm on my phone... Just find the proper threads over at XDA, or I'll add the links later.

Hey Apoplectic, I can't get safestrap to install correctly. .. It always says state: not installed. I'm rooted running 4.4.2 on BN1 sgh-I337. Over at xda it says I need 3.72 which from what I read sounds like is still not fully up and running yet. Any suggestions?

Hmmm, odd. I did not have any issues installing safestrap. I just installed the apk from my external SD and clicked install safestrap once I opened the apk. Is your phone rooted? Did you disable KNOX when you rooted it?

I did not need to install SElinux. Did either of you disable KNOX when you rooted? It should ask you to when you first open SuperSU.

I did root & recovery today [non custom ROMs]. I phone is for work so I could NOT risk any reloading methods; needed to root/recover without needing to reload anything [apps or data].
Towel Root + Safestrap-JFLTE-3.72-kk-B01.apk + SELinus Changer = super easy peasy!
TowerRoot picked up and disabled KNOX, SELinux was necessary [I may not have used lastest greatest TowelRoot]
