Upvote 0
Sorry about not responding for a while, I have been busy lately. Anyway I found out my port is broken that is why it isn't connecting to the computer very well or charging. As far as factory mode I haven't seen it for a while. I have been using my phone by charging my battery using my brother's phone and the putting it back into mine Also I want to send m y phone back to Samsung to get the port fixed but I tried to root do you think they would look for that and find that I voided the warranty. Also is a port repair hard, or something I could do myself? Thanks everyone for all your help!

So it sounds like your phone works and your port was the problem. Did you ever root your phone?

My phone has all the same readings as yours:
FACTORY MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SPH-L710
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
Warranty Bit: 0
BOOTLOADER RP SWREV: 2

Just prior to those readings, I was using my phone with the charging cord plugged in. I heard some unusual alert noises. I shut down all the running apps. I kept ketting this unusual blue calendar screen that I had never seen before. My GPS kept getting turned on. I tunred off GPS several times when I noticed i had a smsung update. I hit the Samsung update. The phone said the Samsung update was downloaded. But the phone went inactive. it was unresponsive to any touch or front button. I hit the restart button and now I have the screen that you had

FACTORY MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SPH-L710
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
Warranty Bit: 0
BOOTLOADER RP SWREV: 2

Reading through the thread it is unclear if you ever rooted the phone or even how you rooted it if it was stuck in factory mode.

I guess my short question is, what did you do to make it work. I don't want to brick the thing.

Thanks

I'm not sure what to tell you really because I tried to root my phone a couple times and it wasn't working for some reason. With the port issue I can't really use it right now anyway so i'm not 100% sure i'm out of factory mode, but from what I think it kind of just went away. I'm sorry man but I honestly don't know. Although I still wish you the best of luck trying to get out of it. Maybe try some of the solutions on the thread that didn't work for me. Hopefully you'll have better luck. Also do you know how to reset the warranty bit to 0 because when I tried to root my phone and it didn't work it set my warranty bit to 1 and need to send it back in to get the port repaired. FACTORY MODE SUCKS

EDIT: If you haven't rooted your devce or anything in the past and your warranty is active maybe see if Samsung can do anything about it so you don't have to risk bricking.

Thanks for the response. I think I got “Lucky”. My phone was stuck on the factory mode screen.

My Samsung Galaxy S3 went to factory mode while I was using the phone and it was plugged into the charger. I have since deduced that the USB port is the problem now. I can no longer connect in any way attempting all combinations of 4 different cords, a cradle, 3 chargers and a PC. I got out of factory mode by pulling the battery. The phone was not rooted prior to this experience. I did not have to root the phone to get to where I am now. I have not since rooted the phone.

The USB port a day later still has a hint of a whiff of ozone. I tested the smell on several folks with multiple different phones, even a second S3 along with other USB connected devices. Only my Samsung s3 had the smell of ozone and only at the USB port. There was no smell at the headphone microphone or battery area.

I think I have narrowed down the area of what caused the failure to the area of the USB and cord. I believe one of two things happened. Remember I was using the phone with the charger plugged in. 1) The cord that was plugged in was bent nearly 90 degrees. The cord may have shorted and caused some electrical mayhem to the USB port, 2) the metal connections for the cord and USB may have been so severely out of alignment as to misalign the internal pins and cause the short/burnout.

Regardless, I am going to have a new port installed. I found a couple places nearby that will do it for $60 $80. I live in the western burbs of Chicago in DuPage County. For some time, my port has often not held any cord correctly for a while. I am out of warranty. I do not have the skills or tools to change out the port on my own.

Thanks for the reply. I hope my story helps others diagnose their problems.

update the firmware (software) through flashing cable
Thanks for the advise. I was posting my update when your post arrived. My USB port is burnt out. I cannot connect via USB in any way.
Thanks for the response. I think I got “Lucky”. My phone was stuck on the factory mode screen. I have a more complete description of my current situation in the second message that I posted minutes ago.

That's just download mode. Just pull the battery and put it back in or just hold the power button for a long time. Hold until it reboots.

Gracias!

Thank you! Yesterday I did that. Remove the battery for a while, remove simcard and microsd. Then you place the battery and press the button too long power. Home well. What you charge a few hours and then insert the sim and micro. So far well. I keep trying. Likewise I would like to know why is that?

It appears with yellow letter in a black square and I do not know whether it is a factory mode because the description inside is different from that is posted on this topic. Any one can help? I am using Samsung Galaxy S3.

Just pull the battery and put it back in. Or hold power to reboot.

It appears on every screen? Then like funkylogic said it likely is an overlay in developer options. Just turn it off in developer options. You must have turned it on.
