LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

What if you had another line that was available for an upgrade that didnt have data. I have a line with a basic phone that is available for an upgrade. I am thinking about upgrading that line to the G3 with the 3gb plan. Then moving the phone to my line with UNL data. Putting the basic phone back on the line and cancelling the data. I might pay a small prorate, but its still cheaper than buying the phone outright. Any thoughts?

My days w/the G3 may soon be over:

The phone is fine, only a couple nits that'll prolly be addressed in an update.

However,I was most fortunate to receive an invite from OnePlus to buy their phone, the OnePlus One.

I took them up on it & it delivered yesterday.

In a nutshell,I need to pare down to no more than two daily drivers & the G3 will most likely be going back in a couple days.

All other things being relatively equal for my needs between the OPO & G3,it comes down to the display & the OPO has it beat,HANDS DOWN.

A brighter/cleaner-looking screen & much better viewing angles.
The brightness control & text on certain websites & applications [sharpening (?) I'm guessing this is what the bloggers have been talking about] is the G3's achilles heel, making text look disjointed & grainy.

It's not horrible by any stretch, but, between the OPO/M8/G3,those things are apparent & I can still return the G3 w/only a restocking fee to worry about.

Well, that,& some coin spent on accessories.........,I NEVER LEARN :p

Of course,YMMV & I hope that those who have the G3 are as pleased w/it as I am w/the M8 & OPO.

Cheers! :beerglass:

Interesting. Can you explain what those nits are?

Interesting. Can you explain what those nits are?

1) The virtual lack of any real auto-brightness functionality.

2) Grainy text in some applications & desktop web pages.
The latter is hit or miss:
For example,XDA's desktop website (forum) looks just fine, but, this one here @ A/F looks grainy as hell.
As much time as I spend here on A/F,that alone is almost enough to send it back on its own.

As for applications,G-Mail text looks grainy also, but,to a lesser extent than desktop web pages.

Of course,I haven't had time to test a whole lot of other material,as I just got the phone Thursday, but, the items that I frequent have this issue.

Not a bad phone at all, still a strong 9 out of 10,but,I have 3 phones & the opportunity to shed one of them & come out of it relatively financially unscathed & the choice, for myself,is surprisingly easy:

The M8 & OPO are keepers, the G3 is going back..........

When I want to make a purchase...I want to know all the postives and negatives. Thanks for the feedback. Like I said, I'm going to wait this one out and see the fall lineup.

" The fevers done broke!!". My ardor for the G3 is cooling. Blame it on my G2. I don't know. I've read every review. Digitizer, Heating? Who the hell knows? If there is oversharpening, that would not be good, since I use it to read. I like wireless charging, but I know I could get the G3 to wireless charge, buying a back cover on ebay. In the back of my mind I think I want to hold out another 60 days and take a peek at a 20nm A8 processor in the Ip6, or maybe a 805 G3. I am only stuck with a couple of TPU cases!! All this could change if I pick one up in a store and fall in love with it. It has happened before.
