Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] Touchwiz 4.4.2 rom

I flashed this over number #2 1.5.2 and had no problems. Excellent ROM, btw. 4.4 touchwiz is a pretty smooth and feature rich experience for this phone. :D

only issue with this rom is that mms doesn't work. tried using go sms, but that only allowed me to send not receive. any suggestions would be much appreciated.

man this is weird this ROM shows I'm on sprint network so it won't let me make call and be on the internet at the same time

I don't think that's the problem cause I can easily make it says metro pcs it's just an xml file that can be added. I'm not on this rom anymore so i can't really help you with your problem. Make sure you are using the 4.3 modem

Wow... what a Ghost town these days. Anyway;

I installed and ran this thing, and fortunately, I'm not a n00b - if I were, I'd have been in BIG trouble.
Now, I understand why there's been so little DEV work on 4.4... "crap in, crap out".
To iterate;

Since installing, MMS didn't work. I FINALLY got the patch listed above to work.

The bugs I've found so far;

1. Phone gets HOT - FAST. Even without 4G or Wifi on... and I have no FB, Twitter, etc. crap running in the background. In fact, I have everything that's unnecessary frozen so it can't run. With those services running and data enabled, you can cook eggs on this thing.
NOT GOOD.

2. GPS is a hit-or-miss AT BEST... sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. (more often that not, it DOESN'T WORK) Even when it DOES work, it can take up to 20 minutes to lock on a fix. Yes, I installed GPS Toolbox, and the various patches for GPS too... same result. Crapolla.

3. Compass is 180 degrees off(!) (and NO CALIBRATION capability??!)
Maybe that has something to do with the HORRIBLE GPS??? I dunno, but it's likely the two are connected...
Point is - this ROM is, for Navigation purposes, 100% absolutely worthless. Period.
End of story.

4. Battery life is DISMAL. THIS IS THE WORST ROM I'VE EVER SEEN in regards to battery life. PERIOD.
Phone would last almost 2 days on most 4.3 JB TW ROMs, but this thing killed a fully charged battery in just 7 hours - with NO FB, GPS, 4G, Wifi, etc turned on or running... JUST IDLING.

That said - I like the UI, and it really is smooth as silk... it looks good too - but then so does a dog t*rd sprayed with gold paint. lol

I've ran every single ROM of Android 4.4 that's compatible with the Metro S3 - CM, TW, AOSP, etc - EVERY SINGLE ONE of them are train-wrecks AT BEST.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO GOOGLE??!

Has anyone heard of Google's plan to rectify this nightmare? I have friends on Verizon, etc., that had the 4.4 update PUSHED on them and now their phones are WORTHLESS GARBAGE.
(Most are too terrified to root and/or down-grade back to 4.3... so I can't help them)

What's going to be done guys? Has anyone heard anything positive yet about this horrible joke?

Dude, I feel you. I still have the S3, and a year ago or so, I tried every possible rom that was outhere for this phone. I always had some type of problem. But the biggest one was with the camera. When I was about to take a picture with flash usually the phone went off, it did it randomly. Sometimes internet connection or gps, just like you mentioned....

I was forced to go back to stock room, and I am running 4.3 since then. Today I came to see if there was something worth it, but no, stills the same.

It sucks, but I guess, it is just how it should be, developers do not get paid for doing their job and they have to eat. Fixing dose minute problems and making sure everything works fine like a stock room, needs cash.

Still. Hats off to them for trying out, is time consuming.

I generally had a very enjoyable experience with SlimKat for my S3. I was using it up until June. Any of my questions or issues were quickly fixed by nick.
