Root [MetroPCS] [GUIDE]Using KDZ to get back to MS50010i firmware

your source doesn't have a link ;) :p

Literally doesn't make a difference. Whatever floats your boat is fine though :p

It's not a corrupt file. If KDZ extracts successfully, it's not the kdz's fault.
There is a problem with one of the following:
1) You need to reboot your computer
2) Drivers didn't install correctly on the PC even though you installed it "successfully"
3) It might be that we will need to use the same method as the VM/Sprint F3's which would involve me making a new flashing method for this phone. The reason would be because the DLL supplied with the KDZ file was either not placed in it or LG broke something. I can fix that.

I have class and then a small job tonight. Will make option 3 available tomorrow.[/QUOTE

I wanted to see if Sammyz has had a chance yet to make a new flashing method for the F6. Nothing has worked for me so far.

Quick question, does this write over the custom recovery? Just wondering as in the event I want to use my warranty I can, trying to learn as much as I can before I go out and buy this phone, so far it looks like a safe phone to buy and root with.
Yes this does, to do a complete restore just totally wipe all partitions with your currrent recovery and power down.
Then you`ll have to start the un-bricking in emode.

Hello, I have an old f6 i had rooted with cm11, got a new phone and am looking to give the phone away, sans crashes and such. I am looking for a good copy of 12b or 10i, does not matter. I flashed a copy I have and got a gapps error boot loop, not sure but I think it may be the file as I have had it kicking around for a while. If anyone has a copy or advice thanks. I am using lg flash tool 2014 to flash, since lg seemed to have changed their software so you cant manually install things.
Or can i flash gapps through usb? I cant get the phone to start its stuck in a slightly after boot loop.
Well if anyone runs into this, hard reset with buttons worked for me

I might like to use my insurance via MetorPCS to replace my F6. It's a minor hardware thing where the USB port is a little "worn". Will using this KDZ to "restore" the phone be acceptable when I present it at a MetorPCS store?
Make sure you wipe all partitions in recovery first then restore the kdz in download mode. It removes any trace of root and costom ROM / recovery. I'm pritty sure lg factories flash kdz files on the production line anyway so there won't be a difference as long as you get the correct kdz. Go to lg phones firmware site and put in your imei number and it will give you the correct firmware

If you're using the insurance it doesn't matter what condition the phone is in. You can brick it, drop it, smash it, heck you could even dissolve it in acid or just throw it in the trash.

Now if you meant to say that you wanted to get a warranty exchange then yes it would matter and you would need to factory wipe it and flash it back to stock.

"Premium Handset Protection" at $6 USD a month is what I am paying MetroPCS. Above, you mention two different types of coverage. Which is which?

I'm saying that the insurance or "premium handset protection" as metro calls it covers loss and accidental damage. If the phone is not damaged and still in the warranty period you can get a warranty replacement for very cheap. Last time I checked it was only a 10 dollar shipping & handling fee for a warranty replacement. If the phone doesn't have any scratches, cracks, or water damage you may be able to argue that the usb port is defective and get a warranty replacement. Then again I remember you being on the f6 forums about a year ago so your warranty might already be expired. It all depends on the exact date you bought it.

Actually, I started the warranty process online. I found out that I would have to pay roughly $30 or so for another phone that I did not like. You see, the F6 is no longer available from MetroPCS and they charge you for a replacement [even with insurance]. Or course, this is probably less than out-of-pocket. But, I ended up buying an LG Optimus F60 for $49. It has a quad-core processor, etc. and it far better than the phone they were offering as a replacement.

Just be careful with it the screen on the f60 will shatter real easy.

? Why ? Anyway, the real question is why the F60 forum is so puny so far compared with the F6?
Almost everyone who has replaced their f6 has gone with either the f60 the zmax or the avant so the f6 community has for the most part been split 3 ways. I myself went with the avant because the f60 couldn't be rooted at the time and the avant has better hardware specs and an unlocked boot loader. The zmax still has a locked boot loader and every attempted root method has failed the zmax was also over 200 dollars when I got my avant.

If it's this, https://www.metropcs.com/phones/details/samsung-galaxy-avant/610214637611.html, it looks good. It has more memory [a lot] than the F60. I might consider this. LOL But, I don't think MetroPCS gives you second chances once you have bought your phone. And, I just got mine last Monday.

Last time I checked (c. 3 or 4 months ago) Premium Handset Protection ($6 a month) had a $100 deductible. A total rip-off for a phone that ran me $69 after a $30 instant rebate. And the Premium Lookout Mobile Security that comes with Premium Handset Protection is only $3 a month if purchased from Lookout!
