You know, I like guns but....

youll find there are extremists on both sides of every debate......... despite which side is right or wrong

this is a case where a very few extremists have acted out and give everyone else a bad name

every responsible gun group or activist including the NRA has come out firmly against this type of behavior

now while I think carrying this type of weapon into an applebees is ridiculous for the purpose of proving you can.... which in turn frightens a lot of people and stirs controversy.........

I will still defend their right to do this if they want....... because they have the right to do it

not any more than the guys are extremists for bringing them in there

hence why I said most with common sense

responsible common sense gun owners know you dont need to carry such weapons openly to prove you can

and responsible common sense business owners know that theres no reason to ban weapons... in fact its against their best interest to ban them

when you take away the extremists on both sides of the spectrum......... responsible common sense gun owners carry their weapons in a responsible manner into common sense responsible businesses without causing a disruption and the world lives happily ever after

One of these days parts of the U.S. will be no different than the Middle East. When that day comes I would prefer that everyone has a gun and not just the religious fanatics. I doubt that those in the video are religious fanatics, but their actions will end up getting laws passed that will undoubtedly insure that the only ones who will have guns are those fanatics and the government.

Do they think that because they have made a statement, and are a part of the NRA that the religious fanatics will hesitate to shoot them? The religious fanatics have their own statement to make, and they are not going to want any one they don't control to have a gun.

They are already proclaiming that Washington is ready for a hostile takeover. What do you think that governor was suggesting to that group of Christian leaders, go stand on the whitehouse lawn and yell at the president until he and every member of congress who is not in good standing with their group resigns? Hostile means hostile.

Those good old boys are nothing but pawns.

When I was in Manilla nearly 20 years ago, pretty much every building insisted people check in guns before they were allowed in.

Of course, back then, Manilla was a bit wild west: there were regular fire fights on the streets between gangs of up to 100 (often trying to rob banks) and the police .. actually, I say 'and the police': the rumour was that many of the gangs were made up of off duty policemen.

Outside of Makarti - the posh, central bit of Manilla - anyone who looked relatively well off - and by that I only mean middle class - required an armed body guard to try to avoid being kidnapped.

Something for the US to look forward to .. ;)

An interesting correlation. Perhaps, your slip is showing?

Are there any other countries you can name where major British involvement existed primarily before the United States of America became a player in international commerce?

Loads - the sun never set on the British empire.

Not entirely sure what point you're trying to make, I'm afraid

I am being inquisitive. Was there a reason for speaking of Manila?
The British occupied Manila from 1762 to 1764. The reason given for the British leaving Manila was that the occupation no longer remained viable.

Something occurred around that time that got British attention, and they never really managed to gain another major foothold in the Philippines.

I read as many world news articles as I can, and there is a lot of anti American sentiment. Even from countries I would not have expected.

The Hindi had an article recently about Hillary Clinton, and the U.S intervention in certain countries.

The article pointed out the certain problems existed in those countries before American intervention, yet were controlled by the types of government that existed, and the harsh methods exerted by those governments upon its people. Which was said to be preferable to what happens every time the U.S. intervenes. Comments on the article were clearly anti American, and there were a lot of comments.

Is Manila the only place you have been been where a lot of people carried a gun?

Did you have another reason for choosing Manila?

How do you feel about America returning to the wild west?;)

Is there some sense of justice in it?

I actually hadn't considered history.

The original posts were about people taking guns into business premises. I was merely giving an example of how another country where guns are extremely prevalent handles the situation (or did 20 years ago) by having people to check-in weapons on entry to buildings.

That made me think of some other gun-related things that happen in that country and to wonder if, as these radical new gun laws spread across the US, such things might follow.

Well, if you note, at the end of Bill's monologue, he states that a lot of those resturant chains changed their rules to specifically DENY people to bring in their guns. Open carry vs private business, in this case, private business wins. Again, I just find it incredible, and I say this as someone who is a big fan of guns, if nothing else, their varied history, but the way people carry guns openly, full on rifles, and places where you can bring guns into church, CHURCH?!, also, bars. Yeah, cause drunk people+loaded 9mms=what, a tickle fight?

And oh yeah, one more thing: Saw this pic:

I judge BOTH groups thank you very much.
