What I dislike about removable batteries -

How they do it.

Under a cover.

I liked how my StarTac and Helio Ocean were - the battery also formed part of the outer wall of the device. More expensive and more convenient.

If replaceable batteries are making a comeback, I hope that design feature comes back with them someday.

PS - and maybe someone will listen to the design statement for the Evo 2 that we dreamed up and that never happened - two batteries, half size. Run one down, then switch to the other. Hot swap the dead one without switching off the phone.

Sometimes like + thanks just aren't enough.

Already heard complaints of the squeaky back cover. Nooooo...so done with that!

What ever happened to the depressible metal clasp on the back that when pushed made the entire back half of the phone come off? Ok so on the StarTac it was plastic, I'd take that too. Now that's how you shove a 3500+ mAh into a phone AND avoid the cheap feel of the Gnex battery cover all in one shot. I think an ideal battery was possible for the QHD. They just chose to go the contemporary route. If need be stick the SD slot in the side (also somewhat oldskool style it seems) and I'm breaking open the piggy bank right now. No doubt about it.

Gotta add one more thing here gang. Don't let one wayward moderator change your mind about this device. It's excellent. It's exceptional. It has broken new barriers. I want one.

If I had extra cash laying around, it. would. be. mine.

But alas, I don't at this time. I just feel like they got soooooooo close to nailing the perfect Android. Which in retrospect, they did somewhat do with the G2. That only added to my expectations and I'm asking too much on subsequent releases. Problem is that yesterday's awesomeness is today's meh. Technology has moved past that but I just feel like I'm still waiting to see the ideal blend of hardware for that absolute must have device.

G3...kicks ass. So please don't take any comments I've made to be anything less than that.

You folks moving on to the greener pastures of the G3 are fortunate indeed. I may or may not join you this time around (still not 100%) but chances are, whatever happens, our paths may well cross once again. Why? Because it's what we do. Everyone deeply involved enough to be reading this has an eye for new tech. We will break it down. We will question it and some of us will make the move. The rest of us will wait until the next time. Or the time after that. Or...it never really ends for some of us now does it? ;)

IBT, yeah, same boat here. The G2 is a phone I'm gonna sit on for a while yet, probably a full two years. Am I bummed with the screen problems? Yeah, but it's pretty much my own fault.
The camera, size, battery life, speed, development are all pretty much there for me. :)

Make that a threesome :D I am with both of you. Could not wait for the day that I would be able to hold that beautiful piece of technology in my hands. I had the G2 so surely this next iteration would surely be the perfect phone for me. Removable battery, microSD, laser focus, DAMN! even a 1 watt speaker w/1.5 watt booster amp and that absolutely gorgeous darn near bezel ess screen, QHD no less, are you kidding me ? Surely the biggest improvement since sliced bread right ?

Expectations are through the roof even after all of the reviews start trickling in about all of the screen problems and such. Well that don't matter to me until I check it out with my own two eyes.
I finally go to a sprint store to check it out for myself. I have my M8 with me as it is my DD right now. Getting a little tingle in my stomach as I approach the G3. WOW, this thing is freaking gorgeous !! So lite and comfortable to hold, just like it was made for me. Ok, lets get down to business, start flicking through apps, homescrrens, etc, etc.. Man this thing screams !!! OK lets here some sound, crank volume all the way up and make a +611 call to verizon, wow speakerphone is plenty loud and I don't even have viper on this thing yet, sweet. OK camera let see that super fast focus., another wow can't believe how fast it is and the pics look great ! But then as I am looking at the pick I just took my brain is telling me that it does not look so bright. OK, go back to home screen and go to browser where we can see some more white background. Let me go to settings and check screen brightness, surely it must be turned way down. Setting>display>brightness. OH SH_T !!! It can't be at 100 % !, the check box must be ticked for auto brightness, but its not ! Pull out my M8 on auto brightness and set it next to G3 and oh my, there is no comparison. It is a lot easier for me to see. My stomach at this point is feeling a bit sick and am in disbelief. Tried everything I could to fake out my brain to get the G3 to be almost as bright as the M8 but it was not happening for me. So with hesitation I set her down and knew this just was not gonna work for me. And after a few how in the hell could they take the most important part of a phone and screw it up like that ? Are you kidding me's ? I put her down and walked away.
But that is what makes this hobby so much fun ! All of the reading and research, interacting with all of you fine folks, learning more and more
etc,etc.. So the Note 4 will be the perfect phone for me , right ? :D:D:D
BTW for all of you folks that have the G3 it is probably the perfect phone for you. I am getting older so I need a big bright screen and a lot of volume from the speakers. So on that note make sure you check it out for yourself and see if it fits all of your needs. THE END Phewwwwww

Note 4 will have thinny bezels too, 805 and APPARENTLY a more power efficient display for Qhd. The cynic in me says similar throttle trickery as the G3, but who knows.

We shall see.... By then we should also see if true about new models from LG and Samsung for their current G3 and S5.

BTW, leave Best Buy Dude alone. He does do not get paid enough to deal with rubes like me.

So a while back I signed up for isis back when they were giving the free $40 for signing up, but I didn't use it very much, because they took all the tap and pay vending machines out at my work. We'll they recently started adding them back, just in time for a serve card promo, get a $1 credit for every $1+ purchase, up to $50 per month. Lots of free bags of chips, $0.10 candy and $0.35 soda for me :). Well I was checking promotions, and Verizon has one get a $20 credit if you spend $40+ at Verizon using isis. Well with my corporate discount, the LG circle case comes to $40.12 after tax. Anyone else with isis and corporate discount, use this to get a $20 circle case (or Otterbox defender case if you'd rather have that).

I am hoping Note 4 is made smaller to if they cut down on bezel size. But then again, that is their true phablet, so I'm not holding my breath. Was just a little to big for me to carry around comfortably as a d/d.
In reality I am thinking maybe 2 more generations to go before QHD becomes a DD for me. Mid 2015 maybe ?
Who knows what they will change on the LG G4 when it would of been the perfect phone w/a 1080p disp. :(

But the bezels got bigger on the S5. Why are you so sure they'll be thinner on the Note 4?

Not sure at all, but going by the apparent design leaks. Agreed the S5 has big bezels and seems out of pattern. I don't like big bezels and I can't deny.

The iPhone 6's apparently have some bezel as well.

Here is the more common and "accepted" as maybe the real deal based on the usual sources. Recent pictures show the same, FWIW. Question would be, where does the little drawing thingy get placed? Need the slot for that.

Dosen't look like they can squeeze capacitive buttons on that tiny bezel. Hmmm, the launcher buttons are on the very bottom of the display so that should prove very interesting indeed.

Here is a fairly comprehensive summary that also correlates with Anandtech's review in methods. It explains far better than me and also does it in the frame of comparing with the also good M8: Keys are the battery and performance sections. I notice a significant difference in reviews that are generic and those that actually TEST the device out with light to heavy use.

LG G3 vs. HTC One (M8): Duel duo - page 11 - GSMArena.com

That all said, the G3 should sell like hot cakes, since heavy users are an apparent minority and LG obviously appreciates that. The techie in me screams 1080p, but the marketer in me shouts Qhd, full speed ahead! :) LG were smart going with Qhd in the latter respect. Duh.
