Help UK note 2 kit kat

Has been out for a while, although with carriers, particularly Vodafone, I would not know as my phones are unlocked and therefore get updates direct from the device manufacturer, which tends to be a bit sooner.

But I don't even rely on that as I always root and flash custom ROMs and these tend to come out shortly after a Google update release, which tends to be months ahead of even the device manufacturers.

used it more now. still no issues on note :)

camera works fine and battery life looks about the same.

Several apps that write to SD have not complained. The only one that has said anything (Mapfactor Navigator) informed me its map folder was now read only and offered me another to select.

Performance feels about the same or slightly smoother with some operations.

Installed 4.4.2 last night as per NeoGrandizer's post a few months back.

http://androidforums.com/6319660-post147.html

Noticed this afternoon that I couldn't turn on the WiFi, so rebooted the phone - not sure if this is the WiFi bug that folks are talking about. But I'll keep an eye on it.

One thing that I have had to chase around the internet for is that Google bookmarks are no longer available for the stock browser.

I use both Chrome and stock as there are some pages that don't zoom for Chrome that do for stock.(Wiki for example)

Having Google bookmarks loaded in stock means that any changes I make to Chrome, stock or desktop pc are all synced through Chrome bookmarks.

I had to sideload an apk to sort that out.

For anyone in the same position here is the solution. (post #6)

The word "here" in my post has an embedded hyperlink.

[Q] Stock Browser - Import Bookmarks? | Transformer TF700 | XDA Forum

Post #6 says "Install this (you don't need to be unlocked or rooted) and enable bookmark sync in sync Google settings."

The url in post #6 downloads an apk which according to the rest of that thread is from Ice Cream Sandwich, but works in Jellybean (and clearly Kitkat).

The thread seems to give the impression that it's OK to install, but you will get warnings about it and you will need to uncheck the "unknown sources" bit in "Security" to install it.

All "seems" OK with me, Google bookmarks appear in the stock browser and I've added and deleted urls from stock and Chrome and they add and delete from my desktop pc.

I also noticed that "Sync Internet" now appears in the Google account settings when you click your username. I don't remember it there before I installed the apk.

As for the WiFi problem that some are having, it might be connected to the "smart network switch" in the WiFi settings. I'm currently doing some research so watch this space!
