Got tired of waiting on Verizon. I am now Rooted and S-Off on my Verizon HTC One Max. Sideloaded the Official RUU Sense 6 update for Verizon HTC One Max. Found only additional bloat is that all keyboard languages are now pre-loaded. Phone response and Blinkfeed is faster and smoother. Added BusyBox Pro and XPosed Framework to install Sense 6 Toobox, Lockscreen, and KitKat SD Card Access Mods. Phone is even more better now. Battery life for me is still about the same as when I first got the phone if the slightly better. Only been running this for 2 days so will update in a few weeks.

Can you point me to the easiest way for me to do the same, some kind of n00b tool with easy directions that can root my Verizon HTC One Max? If not no problem, I have some idea on how to do it but it looks complicated.

Not too difficult but I referenced the following sites:

Weaksauce Root
[Root] WeakSauce APK - 1.0.1 - XDA Forum

Firewater S-Off
Instructions/Download | firewater s-off

RUU Sense 6 Sidelaod
(Newest) VZW_RUU/KitKat/Sense6! S-off only! 3.08.605.2 - XDA Forum

Relock Bootlaoder
[how to] lock/unlock your bootloader without htcdev(s-off required) - XDA Forum

Remove Tampered Flag
[how to] remove your "tampered" banner - XDA Forum

Worked for me.

I installed weaksauce on my HTC One Max and it worked and said root activated but every time I try and install SuperSu it fails to install the binaries and tells me to reboot and try again :(

I am definitely rooted but like some other people I can not get SuperSu to work. But root checker tells me I am rooted and I can install apps that need root. I will try and do S-off tonight. If I have anymore issues I will just wait for OTA Sense 6.

EDIT
I now have unlocked and S-Off. I didn't realize that would cripple the fingerprint scanner lol.

EDIT #2

I now have TWRP installed and SuperSu as well as I used Flashify to do TWRP and used TWRP to install SuperSu. One question if you ever come to this thread again. Can I just wipe away Weaksauce now that I have the boot loader unlocked/ S-off , TWRP installed and SuperSu? Will I lose my root if I remove Weaksauce? All this work just to install Sense 6 early lol.

And yes I did uninstall Weaksauce and I do have normal root now. Can't believe I got this all done and it didn't brick.

You can relock the bootloader to re-enable the fingerprint reader. You can unlock the bootloader to allow flashing of a different ROM. This does not affect ROOT as long as you keep S-Off. Check the link I provided previously regarding lock and relock of bootloader.

The official Verizon HTC One Max Sense 6 update is finally here. I find it to be smoother than the RUU that was made available back in May. BUT... it broke ROOT.

I cannot re-root using Weaksauce. Any ideas anyone?
