HTC Incredible is a MASSIVE disappointment

There is a free app called Lockpicker that will disable the Exchange server security profile. All Android 2.1 phones will do this, even the Moto Droid (after you upgrade it to 2.1). Doing this may cause you to get in trouble with your IT department.

Your other complaints are frivolous at best and could be solved by some end-user education. Personally, I never delete Exchange e-mails (for CYA reasons) so it would never be a problem for me. Every company makes design choices, you don't agree with some of HTC's. Perhaps testing the phone first would have been a more prudent decision.

The battery issue is going to rely heavily on how you manage the usage of the phone. You have a huge ass screen and a tiny ass battery. Do the basic management tasks of turning off unnecessary devices when not in use (wi-fi, GPS, Bluetooth).

Perhaps you shouldn't just buy a device based on hype? I'm sure Verizon would gladly take the phone back.

Good luck,
Mike

i know i shouldn't be sticking my nose into this thread but wtf.... :):):)

lot of replies here are saying the OP should educate himself more or suggesting rooting the phone etc etc. this should not be necessary for an end user. and you're not going to educate yourself by going to a verizon store and checking out the demos.

i'm guessing most of the repliers here LOVE to tinker with their phones and get all techy on 'em. well you guys constitute a minority of users. annoying issues can doom a phone for the general public. most people out there are not going to search for android foums to solve their gripes. they're going to go to verizon tech and complain or they'll trade them in for another phone, and i don't think htc wants that.

My only complaint is the battery draining quickly. I was a huge bb user and after day 3 of the incredible I made a great decision to switch.
I am new so bare with me but I "think" I did all I can do to fix the issue. disabled wifi, gps, lowered back light, installed advanced app killer. I even read somewhere to disable the "enable always on mobile data" under mobile network settings.

i know I have been using the phone way more than i will in a few weeks but any steps I might be missing I would greatly appreciate some help.

Oh yeah what is rooting? I am assuming it is a way to re build the software. (keep in mind I never had an android and only know a few people with one)

get rid of the atk they do more harm than good. just make sure u back out of the program all the way and it will kill the program naturally.
FAQ: Why You Shouldn’t Be Using a Task Killer with Android Geek For Me – Android CDMA Sprint Hero
thats a good article as to why u shouldnt use a task killer on android.

Exactly right!

You shouldn't be using an automatic task killer, but if you have a need to kill an app that isn't behaving properly, you can kill it from the "manage applications" menu under settings. This way, you can save app space for programs you actually need (like games).

Backing out of an app doesn't kill it until the OS needs more memory than is currently available. Even then it will kill older apps first.

hey sleepywan,

i have had incdredible for 2 days, i love it, i too used to have moto droid, it was great but i hate slide out keyboards, my email has a delete button, i use gmail, have not tried the others because on the moto droid i did not like all my mail together. i have not done the active sync with my pc, putting in that password would make me . i think you will find eventually that hate the phone but i am sybced with google with email and google voice. i think you will discover eventually that the incredible and the moto droid do the same functions in a different way, maybe you should not use htc stuff and use all android.

Not that I agree with the posting style of the OP, but no one has been able to answer his question about having to "log in" to email. That seems to be one of his biggest gripes. The one person who has tried to answer this, doesn't address the issue. If it is working fine on his Droid without having to sign in, then it is not a problem with his work email's server. He clearly differentiated between the 2 by saying it worked without issue on his Droid.

That said, the Incredible is a really sweet piece of hardware, and had I not already had a Droid, I would probably go for it. I wouldn't do the Evo, but ONLY because it's not on VZW (too many dropped calls in my area by ALL other carriers, with exception to VZW)...

Any HTC phone, unless rooted, is impossible to completely turn sense UI off. The notification bar is always black, the messaging app is always theirs, and the dialer will always be the HTC one. You can, however, turn off the desktop thing they have.

The video below I belive is for the HTC Evo 4G, but not all HTC Phones requires rooting to disable Sense UI. :)

YouTube - HTC EVO allows you to turn off Sense UI

Again it's a matter of patience. If you demand information regarding issues, you might as well hire someone. If you ask nicely, some people here are more willing to help, but that requires patience. :)

Ive been saying the same thing myself, the masses will not put up with stuff like this...they will trade phones and say android sucks, thats all.
the geeks will say youre too stupid or lazy etc etc but their world is not the real world. people just want things to work. fast and intuitive.
