Exchange Mail without Pin Lock

Hi guys,

I've just set up my exchange mail on my new Note 3 and it's great, except it needs a PIN lock so every time I go to use my phone I have to put the PIN in which gets annoying.

Just wondering if there's a way to have the exchange mail without the PIN lock?

I downloaded a hacked mail app for my SGS3 when I had it which worked perfectly, but I'd like to avoid putting a custom OS on my Note 3 just to get the hacked mail app, if possible.

Any suggestions would be great

It's possible that your IT department has am option set so that a pin is required. Depending on a few things (the size of the company, how well you know the people in the department, their reason for turning on the option, if they did, etc.), you may try talking to them and ask about having that option turned off. Otherwise, using a third-party email app is probably your best bet.

Likely a policy set by your Employer. If you don't want a pin on your main phone, just setup Knox. You still get the notifications and you just need the pin if you want to read the mails.

Also don't forget. Your employer is able to wipe your phone using Active Sync. With Knox all they can wipe is the Knox part, but not your actual phone.

Woah! I didn't realize that the wipe can be isolated to just Knox. I've been so hesitant to go through it with my IT guy, to set up Knox because of the wiping functionality.

I use WidgetLocker, in addition to a timed PIN (set to lock only after 30 minutes of inactivity). My IT doesn't change the security settings to make the device lock automatically. I don't need an additional app to do this. In the settings under LockScreen>LockAutomatically, I just click on the arrow and I have several different options on how long until the PIN sets in. When I had my Motorola Photon, almost 3 years ago, I had a 60 minute option, but the Note 2 and Note 3 only have 30 minute options.

pretty sure they can't wipe the phone unless they installed a program on the phone itself to do that function. You can't wipe a phone with a policy because it should never log into windows. androids are not active directory friendly.

we use Meraki from Cisco installed on all our tablets and company paid phones. Lets us track and remotely wipe everything in case the the device was lost. Directors are talking about forcing private phones who access the exchange server to have Meraki also but if that happens, no more email on my personal phone then because I won't let them track me. Privacy concerns.

Yeah you are correct. They need to install their own program/app onto your device. My company does the same thing with the iPhone's they give out to their employees. :)
