So tempted to get a G3...has anyone make the move from the G2?

I am so tempted to sell my G2 for around 200-250 and buy it for 550+ and pay around 300 for it....the microsd and removable battery, and the larger screen is sooo tempting..my friend got a white one and it looks really nice. Do you guys think its worth it?

For me, nope.
Last phone I had with a removable battery was my Gnex and I never swapped the battery for the life of the phone. My S3 had an SD Card slot which was nice for music and nandroid backups, but now I stream all my music and only keep 1 nandroid on my phone so space isn't an issue. Don't need a bigger screen and the resolution is just fine on the G2.
Finally did get to see a dummy unit at the local BB and while it is super slick looking, I think I'm finally to the point where I just don't see the need to upgrade so quickly anymore. :)

Insert different devices but I feel the exact same way!

I think i am going to wait a couple another year with my G2. The G3 feels like a marginal upgrade. It feels like the upgrade from the Galaxy S3 to the Galaxy S4. Some things are improved but not nearly enough to give me any sort of envy. Let's hope they bring a fingerprint scanner and waterproof cover on the LG G4.

I thought about it for a loooong time. Handled a G3 in store, followed it from concept to release, the works. I'm just too happy with my G2 and it's superior battery life that I can't pull the trigger this time around.

I'll be looking at LG hard though for my next phone after having owned a G2. Best phone I've owned to date hands down. Wonder when the G4 will come out? :D

I too am very happy with my G2. I want to stay with the LG family as the G2 has been the best phone of any I have had by a mile.
After having wireless charging there is absolutely no way I will go away from this feature. As my next phone needs to be waterproof and include what was added with the G3...a mico SD slot.

If the G4 adds waterproofing and maintains its micro sd slot...I will be in line.

The G2 is the best phone i've owned in a long time....even over an iPhone. Best battery life over everything ever. Even with everything I do everyday, bluetooth music/phone/etc, internet, texting and i'm at 49%. I'm scared to use anything else i dont even want to update to kitkat lol

You and I were in the same boat until 2 days ago, I finally updated to KK. Still wouldn't have done it but an unknown system process started killing my battery on JB and I couldn't isolate it. So far for me anyway, KK does every bit as good or better. Those Google Framework wakelocks are gone too finally if you know what I'm talking about there.

Now that you're on KitKat...may as well root with TowelRoot and try out that G3 ROM. It's the G3 without the G3 :D

And I couldn't go back to my stock rooted after running the He ROM. Just like the new UI soooo much more.

Looks promising indeed but seems to be lacking knock code for the vs980. I wouldn't last 5 minutes without it. Wonder if there's a stand alone kernel I could flash for that. Might be a little early for that yet idk.

edit: looks like cloudfya's rom might have knock code for vzw. What the heck, I'll give it a go.

Yep his ROM had knock code or you could run optimusg3 with the cloudy kernel and get knock code. I'm just running the cloudy ROM though

My exact thoughts. If the screen on the G3 was the same brightness as the G2 i would have purchased it. I played with it for a good hour in the Verizon store, right next to my G2. I just could not get past the "dirty" white screen compared to my G2. If they fix it with a firmware update, I still might get one. I am very happy with my G2.

What feature does the G3 has that compels you to upgrade?

I'd swap my G2 for a HTC M8 in a heartbeat if the cost wasn't so high to do so. Probably another $325 to do it, so I'll wait. I can't stand the camera on the G2, it takes too long to focus on anything and shots come out blurry. I also like the build quality and front facing speakers on the M8. If the delta between the two gets around $200 I'll jump.

I'll be staying with my G2 for quite a while .. just don't see a reason to upgrade yet. I love everything about this phone. The battery is absolutely insane!! Resolution .. processing power .. etc.. it's all good.

BTW .. I'm also still on 4.2.2. Every once in a while I think about KitKat .. then I do research and realize I am completely happy and completely stable on 4.2.2. I just don't want to mess with a good thing!

best phone I've ever had.
