Root [Boost Mobile] Internal storage issue (after ota)

So I like flashing roms, a lot, and I have this issue over and over again since taking the update. I can flash roms all day no problem but when I restore my stock image I always end up with being unable to write to my internal storage. So far the only fix I have found has been to Odin flash the update again. It's very VERY annoying and really keeps me from flashing roms as much these days. Anybody else have this issue? I assume it isn't just me. However, in searching threads for the S3, I can't seem to find anyone posting about it. :(

You say your stock image. Would this be a stock, un-rooted image? If so, that may be the problem. Why do you keep reverting to stock anyways? If I'm gonna run stock I would at least be running the rooted Sprint ND8 deodexed with hotspot.

Also, just for troubleshooting's sake, I would flash the the newest Philz image.

Another option you have is to flash the rooted stock image and use it when you want to revert to stock. Just take the stock image you have now and save it somewhere safe on your PC.

Here's the ND8 rooted stock ROm by CNexus.
[STOCK ROM][4.4] ND8 Kitkat ROM | Sprint Galaxy S3 | XDA Forum

The reason I'm posting this is because the stock Sprint ROM comes with the hotspot. You have to flash this link to enable it.
[MOD][Deodex][Odex][MB1][MC3][MD4][MK3][ND8]… | Sprint Galaxy S3 | XDA Forum

Make sure you flash the correct ND8 version you're running, odexed or deodexed.

Hope this helps out.

Cheers

I'm not that new bro. Lol. It's using the stock rooted rom. I can't figure out the reason at all. Makes no sense. I always update to latest Philz. I'm running latest SOKP now. All custom roms run fine but now if I restore my stock rooted backup it won't let me modify internal storage. I always go back because of picture quality. Nothing else touches it for taking pictures of my kids. I should just go back and leave well enough alone but I get the itch to flash and can't stop myself lol.

Clean flash or restore I lose my ability for internal and only get it back if I odin flash the nd8 or ndc Ota files.

Try the rooted stock ND8 ROM by CNexus. See if that'll solve your issue. I have a feeling it will. In the past, issues with the phone not reading the internal or external have been recovery related. I'm not so sure that's the case here though. It sounds to me like there may be something wrong with your stock backup that's causing it.

I would flash the newest version of Philz before doing any of this. The newest version that I know of is philz_touch_6.48.4-d2lte.zip. It's what I'm running.

Make a backup of the ROM and test it to make sure it's fixed. Then make a backup and get rid of the old one. ;)

I'm going to try wicked with the stockish theme next. I've stayed away because of the theming but it's a good time to try it again. :)

You also may want to give Conquest a try. It is a AOSP themed TW ROM... But if you use the "custom install option" you can flash either TW or AOSP apps. I have been using it as my dd for the past couple of months.

Also in your OP you said that you couldn't write to your internal storage. Can you write to your sd card?

I'll try conquest. I wasn't aware I could choose TW apps. Thanks bro. Yeah external sdcard works perfect.
