I have a brand new Motorola Droid MAXX that may be dead. I mistakingly bought a waterproof case for a river ride and turns out the case was not so waterproof. Bottom line, I think the phone is dead. It has been a week and when I plug it in it does not light up, or have any indication that it is charging at all. It does vibrate every 10-20 seconds and occasionally said Droid when I try to reboot. Is there any hope for this thing? At the very least it there a way to take the phone apart to access the photos? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, I stuck it in rice for like a week. I think it's dead but I really want to know if I can take it apart to recover the photos off the hard drive.Thanks.

Always a good idea to back up photos and music to Google drive and G+. Did you do that by any chance? This phone will take a little splash but not a dunking. Good luck.

Vibrating every few seconds and occasionally saying DROID would suggest it is not completely dead. But, no screen image would mean that at the very least you would need a new LCD. Even then, there is no guarantee that the phone will actually work.

Question,
After the phone says DROID, have you tried to plug it into a PC? The MAXX does not have an external LED to indicate charging so it uses the screen. With a dead screen, you'd never know. I'm thinking the phone may actually be booting up but you can't tell because of the dead screen. If it is, you may be able to connect it to your computer and retrieve files from internal SD storage.
