Is it possible for makers of chainfire or similare root toolkits to spy on people that use there methods. or if i have a antivirus would it detect a threat
I don't think the OP is inquiring about how to use toolkits for spying, but rather if they have the ability and if they should worry about it
Personally, as Woohoo guy suggested Chainfire and another that comes to mind, the Casual rootkit (AdamOutler), I wouldn't worry about. They are both respected devs
It might, but it's more likely to throw up a 'false positive'. This is because many Android root methods utilise exploits in the Linux kernel which have been fingerprinted as suspect by AV companies.
The safest method of ensuring that a root process is safe and secure is by looking at what other users say about it; anything remotely suspicious will quickly be discovered and publicised.
